Dal/jb?
Not sure what's up, but 2 JB 320 acft parked out back by NW/DAL hangar C in MSP - the ones used for heavy check, new acft prep, and other deep maintenance. This is not where you park overnight acft. JB off shores their heavy maintenance.
Since JB is selling some acft these might be possible DAL acquisitions? Also buying JB whole would solve the JFK terminal issue :D. Something is going on..... |

Charters maybe? They might not fit over on the Corporate side?
|
Maybe something broke on them and needed to be fixed and they do the contract MX there? We often have Comair planes parked by our hangar in PHL.

Heyas,
If I recall, JBs Airbusses have V2500s, which don't play nice with CFMs. There are better places to get a few Airbii that have CFMs....unless they're going for the whole kit'n'kaboodle! Nu |
They do the CAL charter for the Min/Cal game this week? If not they might be for some of the fans. They like Jet Blue in CA.
|
The company is very active in football and business charters right now. We are also in PHL this weekend for a charter, which would logically then make us additionally an airways rumour...

If JB is purchased control of T5 goes back to the port authority, a "poison pill" so to speak...

All terminals in JFK are owned by the port authority with the exception of terminal 4. Delta has a good relationship with the port authority so that would not present any real problem. |
Jet Blue has purchased Delta. The Delta guys are getting stapled to the bottom of the list. It's true because you just read it on the net.

Then Delta should not have any problems having a new terminal built for them.
Any ideas where to put it, haha? Last I checked there wasn't a glut of available real estate at that craphole. |

They wont have any real problems. They have the Mayor and Governer behind the NYC expansion. The big increase in flights out of LGA will allow them to shift some JFK flying to LGA to help build a new terminal. The design is complete and looks great. The big question is timing and how the port authority will finance everything. Terminals are joint projects since the Port authority retains ownership. Once the new terminal is done Delta plans a major expansion in JFK. Timeline however to complete a new terminal is 4 to 5 years out. There is still some hope for terminal 8 and the Port authority may be putting some pressure on American. That is the first choice. The new design is plan 2.
If they go with plan 2 terminal 3 will be demolished and that area will become a big pad and alley area. No new terminal will be built there. Terminal 4 will be extended almost out to T-way A. Terminal 2 would then be rebuilt after 4 is complete. |

Is it Airbusses or Airbii? I'm always confused on that... After all, it's 1 bus and 2 busses so why should it be 1 Airbus and 2 Airbii? Airbii sounds weird to me?

Actually, there is a TON of real estate available there. There are lots of old maintenance hangars that are one bulldozer away from the ground. And it wouldn't take a particularly skilled operator to do that either. Take a good look around next time you are there, and you'll see what I'm talking about.
One of the options looked at would have done exactly that. The new terminal would have gone in on the North side of the airport where cargo is now handled. The check in area would have been Jet Blue's old terminal. Once you checked in there would have been trains under 13l/31R to get you to the main termainal. I think the idea was dropped because the cost of the tunnels would have been huge. JFK is built on reclaimed marshland. Not easy to tunnel in. The cargo area's don't have the roads and infrastructure for a terminal and check in area. |

With that being said, a Terminal 4 set-up, with two taxilanes between the fingers, would allow a lot of options to get in and out. The only thing that doesn't work is our current set-up at LA and MB. KK is slightly less convoluted, but there is at least one misguided soul work ramp tower who is determined to make it just as screwed up as the rest. It's the guy who likes to tell you to push back at a 45 abeam your own gate. |
