Its estimated the average pilot will see a reduction in advancement of 1.8 years based historical data of pilots losing medicals, retiring early, dying early, flunking checkrides or other reasons causing attrition.
Not true. Before the age change, pilots were advancing due to others dying, retiring early, losing medicals, flunking checkrides too. Before the age change, the average pilot left the list at 58 which included many at 60 but a few as you describe. Now after the age change, the new estimate is 62.5
