United MEC Chairman
It appears that the United MEC may have elected an MEC Chairperson who is questionably a scab who enjoyed super seniority after the strike in 85'. Does anyone have a United Scab list or is there anyone who can shed light on this situation.

The controversy over the May 1985 strike is that she called in sick while in new-hire training, thus didn't cross the line due to being on sick list.
The allegation is that she played both sides without declaring allegiance to either.
Just another chapter in the slow-motion train wreck that is United and ALPA.

In 1985 I didn't think calling in sick was supposed to be an option. However I also think about 30 did something along those lines call in sick the guard needs me whatever. I guess the question is how would you feel if you went on strike tomorrow and one of your pilots just called in sick.

Had the new gal address my recall class in 2006 and was ****ed at the time. I felt another snub by ALPA by sending this apathetic, uninformed rep. We all thought "this is the best they can do"? She'll look out for her own and F&^% the junior guys. Again.
I was shocked to hear of her back-door victory. This screams for membership ratification of the MEC Chairman.

If this is the way the UAL MEC is going to play politics it's time to boot them all out. This a complete sham and I'd suspect nothing but Whiteford style capitulation from Mrs. Morse. IMO the MEC just cut our collective bargaining power throats.

Absent a merger or BK (both real threats), I'd say the long game is that she will have to produce stellar improvements to prevent wholesale rejection of any TA. So many pilots from various sub-groups are so ****ed that sans an over the top contract a strike vote is assured with her in office. I'm afraid a strike is the only leverage the UAL pilots have now cause it sure isn't unity.
