Midwest pilot lock-out by Republic Teamsters
Midwest pilots have a legal right to be integrated so we can fly Midwest painted aircraft, flying Midwest passengers, to Midwest destinations. Move the integration process ahead or write a LOA for Midwest pilots to start training until a merged seniority list is finalized.
It's the FAIR thing to do. Republic is moving pilots into Midwest flying because some CRJ aircraft are being retired. At the same time, B717 are being retired and our pilots are going to the unemployment line. Republics EXCO is delaying integration so Republic pilots can take over all the Midwest flying. This is not about the actions of Midwest management or BB... the purchase agreement was signed in June. SWA/Frontier, Delta/Northwest had integration talks before the purchase agreements were signed.... Why not Republic/Midwest? Republic pilots want all the Midwest flying and have worked/delayed/denied talks to undermine our pilot group. Stop the lock-out of Midwest pilots. |
I understand your frustration with how the SLI is going, but you do know that RAH hasn’t recalled any pilot’s to date. The company is still saying RAH is properly manned for the current aircraft. I would expect BB to run the new RAH as lean as he can get away with. We have yet to see any cancellations because of pilot manning, so he has no incentive to recall pilots. Maybe when the Airways 190’s get online we will see some movement. Hopefully IBT will stand up to BB on this issue, because it is wrong!

MD80, it sounds like talks are in progress for integration between all parties involved. Are you in the loop with your folks, or just venting frustration on web boards? (I agree with you, by the way - an attempt at an LOA would at least be a gesture of good faith).

I hear very little about the integration talks. We are told confidentiality agreements were signed and the MEC cannot give out very much information. I think a LOA written by the Republic EXCO to BB would stop the finger pointing. It's up to BB to say, Yes or No. If BB says No (my guess), the Midwest pilots will know BB is locking them out not the Republic pilots. If he says Yes, the senior Midwest pilots would rightfully use their seniority to (20+ years) stay off the unemployment lines and be given temporary bidding rights. |

Best of luck, here's hoping it all works out for all parties involved. |
