Even early on after the incident... for the life of me I can't understand why there were so many out there ready to throw themselves in the line of fire to defend these to noodnicks, even after they fessed up to screwing the pooch.

Yes I agree we are all human, and are subject to making mistakes. But come on... this was no mistake... this is border line criminal. These two should be glad that this did not occur in China for they would be assembling Airbuses at prisoner wages.

Sure there is a difference, Joe. A moron and a neophyte don't know how to fly in icing, can't recognize a stall, and then pull full aft stick and raise the flaps resulting in the deaths of dozens of people. In the other instance two guys get involved in a discussion about their jobs, get lost on the radio, and inconvenience dozens of people resulting in some missed connections. The difference is amount of body bags required to clean up the mess.

Were those guys wrong? Yep, they screwed the pooch and may lose their jobs. But everyone walked through the jet bridge. Can you honestly say that in your vast and storied flying career that you have never been lost on the radio? It happens every day. These guys had the extreme misfortune to have it happen near their destination.

Because they're in the back dealing with a full plane of pax and it's not their job.

So, it doesn't flash and it doesn't chime? Sounds like a Bus manufacturing defect. No Selcal? Nothing? Are guys supposed to focus on the ACARS without some sort of stimulus? Talk about "heads down." If so, that's a win for Boeing.

What gets "old" is the constant attacks on "regional" flying by mainline pilots....This week should put that to rest....Maybe we can treat each other as equals after this...I won't hold my breath however....

When you get an ACARS message in the MD-88, it is loud. Also, a bright light comes on. I don't see how you would miss those, even if asleep.

I'll leave you alone as soon as you stop landing on taxiways and missing destinations by hundreds of miles while you play on laptops....This wouldn't be as big an issue if y'all hadn't made such a big deal about the regionals this year.....You threw stones while living in a glass house....

Well, I'm sorry Joe, I am not going to do that. Regional pilots and mainline pilots are adversaries in my book. You guys work for half the pay, are too afraid to call in fatigued or sick (seen many on here admit to that), and don't mind biting the hand that feeds you on a moments notice (you even admitted to that). So you are asking for me to treat you with some respect?
