I guess this will mean more gate returns since we won't be able to accomplish the infamous "Reset Procedure," on the CRJ 200 by calling MX, after we've left the gate. I might as well just leave my cellphone at home since it has the ability to connect to the internet and can be a distraction. With gate returns and block or better, and one less opportunity for scheduling to get a hold of me, I can see this working out in my favor already.

My airline allows for the captain to call SOC when the aircraft is on the ground, parking break set and ATC notified that you will not be able to immediately move the aircraft. This is an invaluable resource on the Canadian Reset Jet especially in areas where telesis does not work (sure we could use ACARS but lets be honest, it takes forever). So much for 'responsible legislation;' I have no problem with banning laptops in flight but by now all Americans should realize that zero-tolerance blanket bans of anything lead to unenforceable and over-bearing laws.

This will be the most ignored law since the 55 mph speed limit.

I use my laptop to accomplish work related tasks. I have all of my company manuals in pdf format. They are both user friendly and searchable. I use my laptop to write line pilot reports for my company. I could write these by hand, but computers work much nicer. The behavior of two pilots should not dictate the rules and regulations for all pilots or flight decks.

Way to go NWA. Always someone who has to go and ruin it for the rest of us.

Oh, by the way, did anyone tell the CEO of NWA about this rap group when he decided to change the logo on the airplanes?

I agree completely. I did all of my distance learning CDs prior to recurrent on my laptop. It really helped to be able to look at a system, look up at the panel, make the connection, etc. I also have my 73N Study Guide saved to my laptop. It comes in handy on the road.

Thank you, 2003.... ;)

Not that there is anything wrong with the rap band, It's just that I can't look at a NWA jet and not think of the rap group.

What's 2003?
