This is the core of the problem. Not a slam, as I still wish I made that much. The point is we have to make sure that more of us will actually make that much or more, eventually.

Air Tran, former Value Jet pilots. You were the lowest bidder for pilot jobs in the history of the profession.

http://web.mit.edu/airlinedata/www/2...0PERSONNEL.htm

Now the low bidding you did for years, is ok when you did it, but no longer acceptable to you.
Hypocrisy, double standard thinking.

ALPA News Release
How does salary compare to outsourcing flying to another carrier that bids on a contract? Airtran salary, or any other airlines salary has nothing to do with this latest farm job.

And please fill us in on the history of Airtran/Valujet being a contract carrier for any other airline as the lowest bidder....I wasn't aware it did.

I understand we haven't had the best salary over the years but I don't see how this applies to outsourcing.

Not sure it is hypocrisy. One of the challenges we all often seem to fail when we generalize is miss the salient issues.

First, the population of Airtran pilots are filled with pilots who had no history at the former. To label these pilots as hypocrites or double standard thinking solves absolutely nothing, but does hinder our ability as industry professionals (union/non union alike) to forge real progress. Address the real issues. The current crop of Airtran pilots want to improve their lot. We are all better for their individual success. it becomes the referece point for all of us at our compnaies when we are in negotiations. (Management uses the same reference points)

Second, Airtran nee Valuejet was it's own startup like JetBlue. LCC Startups typically do not pay extraordinarily well. It is not a slam against the rest of the industry as part of the expectation and growth is that pay will increase and they will also enjoy seniority. Early Southwest, UPS, Fedex pilots did not have the pay and benefits they have presently. It was achieved over a long period of profitable operations of the respective company. One does not hear these pilots called hypocrites when they bring up Scope issues, yet they were low waged pilots at one time.

Foodfights, though exhilirating, only leave a mess that benefits managements at our own companies.
YMMV

If AirTran management wants smaller aircraft make them operate the smaller aircraft on your certificate with your pilots and an appropriate payscale. Only the executives benefit with outsourced jobs.

But his point was right on......was it not?

you guys had to check his spelling as you could not say anything against his point? sad

Many here do not have English as first language either but are doing a hell of a job with the spelling.

I for one care more about what you are saying than how you spell it......

The point was clear and I could not agree more............

OK, so Still Grounded, whose post was spot-on, doesn't have a spell-checker like you do.

And maybe he didn't win the spelling bee in 4th grade like you did (immediately followed by your lunch money being taken for the 56th consecutive day), but I think his message--and not his spelling--is the important part. Don't you?

Glass houses...

How many thousands of hours do you need pushing the autopilot button before you're considered experienced? Give me a number then we can see who's experienced.
