Thanks for sharing that, but you might want to re-read your thread title (UAL).

Since it's probably scrap metal anyway...

I vote that after they're done poking at it, they put that Airbus on the Intrepid Air and Space Museum. (I know, it won't fit, so maybe on a barge next to the Intrepid, like they did with the Concorde.)

Look down on it from the Intrepid for free. Or pay $10 to get onto the barge and walk around it, even scrape your gang name into one of the tires with a sharp key. Heck, a Happy Meal in New York costs $10. Give half to the insurance company and Intrepid museum keeps the other half.

They can have an interactive exhibit about lift, thrust, and drag, and maybe a sign to explain why it has two seats up front when everyone knows there was only one pilot.

When it stops paying for itself, cut it loose and let it float away again. Maybe sell it to some Somali pirates as a "slightly used aircraft carrier"

Heck, they can even christen the barge "USS Hillary" if that will help cut through the red tape.

Or they could crush it and make beer cans.

There will always be a significant portion that are know-nothings, that don't read, that come to the table with a biased position. Same ones want to know more about Tiger than about what Iran is going to do next.

(note: read Sully's book last week and read Langweische's book yesterday. No one can spend a few hours in those pages and not repeatedly encounter Sully's mention and praise for the crew. If the public is ignorant, it because they suck up the media pap and choose to be ignorant)
