Need help from a US Air mainline pilot.

Hi, I don't know if my request will be feasible at all and I would totally understand if it isn't but I need to try. My rollaboard was run over/completely destroyed while commuting home. I'm not upset about having to buy a new bag or the belongings I lost. The thing that angers me is that fact that whoever did this didn't even have the decency to pick up the fallen items. Despite how torn apart the bag was, they didn't bother to secure it in any sort of plastic bag so the rest of the belongings wouldn't fall out either. Which they did, either on the ramp or on the plane during/after it was finally loaded. I don't care about anything else but one irreplacable thing. I have a somewhat of strange (?) request to make if someone from mainline could help me out. Please PM me if you could help. :(

i'd say you're out of luck..you got a free ride...invest in a purdy or strong!

I hope you did not lose your logbook bro, if you did I have the utmost feelings of pain for you, that has been my biggest nightmare, I have actually had bad dreams about it, I photo copy it every 6months or so for that reason, I would be so f'd if i lost it

Free ride doesn't excuse treating crew bags like crap.

A coworker got his bag broken into when he was forced to "gate check it" for a flight on his own aircraft. Unfortunately, the ramp people don't work for the same company....

Sorry about your loss, but your first mistake was to get a ride from that sorry arse airline. The entire group there are ****ed at the world and regularly take it out on their customers. I am so fed up with them that when the company buys me a ticket on them, I don't even bother putting in my frequent flyer miles. Live and learn. US Air Mainline especially sucks.

Free ride or not. It doesn't matter, bags should be paid attention to, and they should be treated with care.

believe me, i'm not saying it's right..i just don't see any carrier reimbursing any cost for damage or repair, due to the fact that you didn't purchase a ticket...

i dont see anywhere him saying he flew NRSA? If you take a second to look at his other posts I think hes in the military. Not saying he is a rev. pass., just saying I think you all are over assuming he is NRSA.

actually I was indeed nonreving home. this is what happens when you're the last to board and all the overhead space has been taken and airbuses dont have crew closets. it sucks they dont cover bag loss or damage for employees.. i guess its the cost of being able to nonrev...

plus to someone who said I should get a purdy.. if you saw what happened to my bag, I don't think it could've been saved regardless of what brand it was! During my walkarounds I frequently see bags thrown carelessly on the ground so I'm not under any kind of illusion that rampers treat bags with care... but I'm still scratching my head as to how this kind of damage was created. The rampers at my home airport think it was the result of being run over repeatedly by a tug or even a fuel truck.

next time anyone ever tries to make me check a bag I might have to pull a Ben Stiller in Meet the Parents.
