Ridiculous AA jumpseat policy
American Airlines/American Eagle Policy Change
The new policy reads: Due to limited luggage stowage space in the cockpit, baggage should be check to the other airline crewmember’s intended destination.
Carry-on baggage space reserved for revenue customers should not be used to stow baggage belonging to cockpit jumpseat passengers.
Checked baggage for D6 riders is subject to all of the regulations of PPBM for stand-by travel.
Can we make it any more difficult?

This is insane! So anytime we jumpseat AA we're supposed to check our bags? What a royal pain in the "you know what!" AMR management is not satisfied with making their own employees' lives a living hell that now they have to make it difficult for pilots commuting with them, too? What a stupid policy.

AMR seems as to wanting to isolate their crews within the industry. Pass stupid rules to bring a retaliation to its own crews for its (companies) action.
The unfortunate part, AE pilots have never had any say in these policies. APA and AA come up with them. It would be nice if ALPA at AE got AE to have its own policies for jumpseat.

Policy rescinded. Thanks AA pilots and APA reps (and UPS and IPA folks getting it out there) who all contributed to the effort.

My mistake for inferring APA had anything to did with this new policy. What I mean to say was that the jumpseat policy that AE has is mirror to AA's. And AA's to and extent is negotiated by APA and AA, AE pilots have nothing to say regarding our own jumpseat. We try to tweak but that is the best we can do since they at AE just places the AE name on the AA jumpseat policy and agreement.

I've had AA pilots go out of their way to get my bag on board the S80. FAs have stuck it in the forward closet, take it down to the forward hold, even find a space for it in the cockpit. This policy will sure make my DFW-EWR commute interesting.

Sorry, this is a B.S. alert. We've received no such notice from the company. And if some ridiculous rule ike that went into effect, methinks you'd have a large number of CAs sitting in the jetbridge/gate area until the jumpseater's bags were accomodated on board.
