Lets give credit where credit is due. The management and Chief Pilots Offices at regional airlines should be proud. They made a law just for them.

What's sad about this post is that it illustrates just how little unity has been fostered by pilots unions and advocacy groups in our industry since deregulation.

You're absolutely right, "Every man for himself!" and if that doesn't work "Run from your shadow!"

It's because the pilots themselves don't want it. It's one thing to say we should more unity but then the stick shock sets in and everyone backs away from it.

Wow......maybe I'm mistaken, but I thought one of final straws of outrage that caused this ridiculous 'bill of rights' to be put through was the JetBlue ramp appreciation time up in JFK.

And before you blame regional carriers for 'congestion', let me know how much $ that mainline equipment loses in markets like BGM, DUJ, ITH, and FKL.

I will agree with you totally on one point, that of giving credit where it is due. And that should be once again given to Congress, for their proven ability to screw over the travelling public.

But come heck or high water they ARE NOT paying more then the lowest price to fly. Guess they value all those material things more then their and their families life.
I am an American consumer and that means that I shop for the best value. I try to stretch my dollar to the max. Whether I pay $$$ on one airline to get to my destiation or $$ on another - in the end I expect to get to my destination. I also expect that my government is doing what is necessary to keep airline #1 and #2 safe enough for my family.

If airline #2 is operating at a level that is not safe then I expect my gov't to either fix it or stop it from operating and if that same airline can't operate at such a cost then I would think that it would go under.

The consumer isn't to blame for the prices. The airline industry is to blame. The industry need to price accordingly and if ma' and pa' can't afford to fly to grannie's house for Valentine's Day then they will either drive or send a card.

Do you people cherish those material things? Well....you have some people living on welfare but wearing $250 sneakers. Most Americans don't know the meaning of a budget or living within their means.

A few years ago, when it snowed in Houston for the first time in years, effectively reducing the departures for the entire airport to one every 5-10 minutes as they could only de-ice one aircraft at a time, we found ourselves stuck on the ramp, having not moved since we pushed, for nearly 3 hours.

Our gate was still open. We spoke with some of our company aircraft who had actually made it as far as a taxiway, and we estimated that the soonest we could be to the de-ice pad was another 2 hours, but more realistically we were looking at 3-4 more hours before takeoff. Dispatch would not cancel.

We spoke with the passengers, letting them know that we either go back to the gate now, while we have a chance, or we could be stuck on the taxiways for several hours yet. Once we leave the gate area, we can't go back. We can go to the gate, let off whoever wants to get off, and take whoever wants to stay.

All of them elected to... STAY ON THE AIRCRAFT!?!?!?!

Passengers bill of rights my ass. All passengers want is to be in in control, and when they are not, they get angry. Unfortunately, they don't control the weather, airport, airspace, gates, etc., and this makes them angry. I don't think anything we do as airlines will ever fix that.

So the US government is going to take care of everything for you? Best of luck with that happening.
As fas as Most Americans not knowing the meaning of a duget or living within their means I think you better go back and look at that government that is going to fix everything for you, let me know when those officials learn the meaning of a budget and how to work within their means.
