Finally. At the bottom of the CNN article it says that the pilots can get their certificates back in August, (two months sooner than planned).

These guys have suffered enough, August can't come soon enough in my opinion.

Yes, I beleive the suffering has been given in the way it has been handled from the get go.

Granted they did a few stupid things like talk to the press, but allowing them to go to Iowa and get their ratings back in Aug is great. I bet they will be the two safest pilots we have !

Really? Ever go a year without income? Its VERY painful for you and for your family, NO MATTER WHY IT HAPPENED.

Get off the high horse.

A wise old retired 747 captain once told me: "There are two types of pilots out there: Those who have busted an FAR, and those who will. Just try not to join that first group for as long as possible."

It is called recognizing that no matter who you are, the best you will ever be is human. To be human is to make mistakes. Professionalism comes from how you deal with being human.

Did they get pay or not? I would hope so. Hopefully they get to keep their jobs.

I recently heard that they were back in training already. Great news. As stated above, I will bet that nothing like this ever happens again to the captain.

Probably an RJ pilot, no mortgage, no kids, no responsibilities, no loved ones depending on him to provide a roof and 3 square meals/day...If one's life is like that, sure, they could stand a year off. You, sir, have no clue. Come back again with a comment, when you're children are in/approaching college, and only 6-12 years from retirement, and then you MAY understand the grief and heartache that these very fine men, with impeccable reputations among their peers, have been through. Stupid? Yes. They've said as much. But like JC said, "...you without (fault), cast the first stone..." Perhaps your comment would be received more graciously when you've matured just a bit in your opinion of exceptional airmen, who got caught up in a mountain load of changes in the way their lives are ordered, and were simply trying to make sense of it.

I agree with most here that this is good news for those two pilots. The FAA over reacted in their case, especially considering DAL pilots who landed on a taxi way in ATL were not treated like these two had been.

What's more serious, landing on a taxiway or overflying your destination?

A simple retraining event would have been sufficient instead of revoking their pilot license.
