Any AirTran pilot on APC today?

I need to hear from an AirTran pilot. A business partner told me he was sending his daughter to meet a lady named Graham or maybe it was Grantham. He is spending a ton of money to get his daughter in front of this lady who is supposedly involved in pilot hiring.

I would like to give him some good advice. I'm in the consulting business and am not a pilot, but have worked with a lot of "airline executives". Is this job fair visit bogus or what?

Well, Stephanie Grantham is scheduled to be at the LAS job fair, as is the CP.

Your business partner is spending a "ton of money" to get his daughter to LAS and into a $100 job fair??

Your post seems odd at best.

Agreed, most of your posts have involved a "friend who is..." type question, and you seem to concentrate heavily on job fair posts. Either you work for these companies as a consultant and this is your way of getting the word out for them, or you simply don't feel like doing a web search to answer your own question. Either way, it's time for new tactics.

I am a consultant and most of my work has been with airline executives (not line pilots). I just see the job fairs as a waste of time and money, so maybe that's why I offended both of you. This particular friend is not in the airline business and when you look at the cost of travel, hotel, fees and other expenses it all adds up too more than I would pay. Add that to the $100K and other money spent on education and training and it's considerable.

APC has been a good source of information for me and I appreciate b82rez verifying her name.

So who is Stephanie Grantham? I did the web search as you recommended and found a Stephanie Grantham with AirTran on a social networking site, but it doesn't mention a thing about pilots.

Back to my original question. Is this job fair thing a bogus deal or not? I think I am going to call Ms. Grantham.

Now that was an impressive bit of Web work! Thanks for the link.

I got her phone number but did not know it was her cell phone. She was polite, but - as they say - "firm".

I'm glad I didn't mention any names.

She interviewed me when I applied. She is a really nice lady and I am sure has a lot to offer in the do's don't of getting an airline job. She is a true professional. Ultimately though you can do all the counseling you want, but it is how you do in the interview that will count. Hopefully you push the right buttons, show respect, don't step on your swanze, and catch the interviewer in a good mood.
Bottom line If I was looking to get an airline job, I would pay to get Ms Granthams advice.
Sorry you did not get the respect you deserved on this forum.

If he dropped $100K or more to get his daughter a pilot certificate, than yes, that is a waste of money and you need to hit him upside the head. It's the only cure for SJS.

I apologize for jumping to conclusions, but your post is a bit odd for APC. However, I fail to see the disrespect in my previous post Boogie.

No disrespect intended

I am not saying you disrespected him, I just you and Brez did not try to answer his question in a straight forward way. You may be right to be suspicious but I have to ask to what end. I admit I am a naive sort but I try not to judge those I don't know. You are right though, I admit my response was a little overboard.
The guy actually makes sence, however.
What resonable person who deals with airline management could in good faith recommend to his buddy that his daughter chase a pilot carreer.
As for Job fairs I was hired at an OBAP job fair so they do help. I dropped my AP at the Airtran booth and got a call the next day.
Stephanie Grantham is top notch in my book.
My 2 cents Boogie
