Parking at DTW
Any commuters out there that live near DTW? Where is the best place to park? Recently, many of the lots have started a policy that only those who own a DTW flight line badge will get the $4 per day rate. All other crew will pay $6 per day. Since $2 will ALMOST buy a gallon of gas, I'd like to keep it!
Any tips?

Fly,
Depending on who you fly for, find out if your airline has negotiated discount parking rates in the Wayne County owned lots for the ground/ticket counter employees. I have to pay $40/mo. for the North/formerly known as Lot #5 (near 22R on the North service drive). Not the best deal, but now that all the lots (pay) are raising their rates, my deal is looking better every month. Hope this helps.

How do you get to/from the terminals to the North Lot? I hate paying the $6 a day as well. Airlines Parking bought all the other parking lots...so I wonder why the price went up. Not really

cessna,
The Wayne County employee shuttle will get you from the Smith Terminal to the North lot, they run about every 10-15 minutes. To get from the McNamera Terminal to the north lot you have to take a terminal/terminal shuttle to the Smith Terminal and then pick up the employee shuttle. Did it the other day when I commuted in on NWA (thanks) and that can take up to :45, so plan accordingly. Hope that helps.

Lots of folks park at the lots next to LaQuinta on Merriman. I forgot the rates, but I heard they were do-able and the park-n-go lots have a pretty good shuttle schedule to the airport. Terminal to terminal, only thing I know is what jetflyer said, the Westin shuttle which you can pick up lower level or Westin stop on upper level next to Westin entrance for departing flights.

Hey Breck, how are ya. Things OK here. Off for 3 weeks until A/C training.
As far as parking in DTW, I believe the best deal would be the Airport deal. Even though it is kinda crappy at times, it is cheaper.??
