If CAL went under UAL's work rules, how would it "create" jobs??? If UAL's rules were going to do so, how come not a single UAL furlough has been brought back. Didn't the the most recent furlough just take place as recent as this past fall/winter of 2009??? I have not heard of any 'new'/or recently changed rules that would all of a sudden make this happen either??

If I'm missing something, I'd really like to know the reasoning for this fact (no sarcasm in this question).

CAL staffs the airline thinner than UAL (less crews per airframe). Some of it may be due to the % of widebodies at UAL vs CAL but a lot of it has to do with the differences in the work rules.

SO if you were to add CAL's 350 aircraft to United's fleet and UAL has to staff something like 2 pilots more per airframe (just a guess), then you have an additional 700 pilot positions.

Why would that be hard to pull off? UAL scope is capped at 70 seats. The only way around that would be a code share agreement which would quickly end up in court.

I guess after watching what happened to YX and also seeing how management uses chapter 11 as to destroy scope it seems like it will be hard for UA/CO to keep more 70 seaters off property. I really hope I am wrong but it always seems like this battle goes in favor of management.
