My thoughts on this would be that every military person knows that they need to be carrying their orders (accessable) with them when traveling. If on official business, it would have been a reimbursable expense in any case.
Knowing only one side of the story, it is hard to really hard judge the actions of the CSA, but they certainly can be surly. I would not want that job!

Very nasty and unfortunate incident.

My sincerest apologies to our military folks. Truly an embarrassment.

I don't deny that the military folks should be given consideration, but American already does that: from what I understand, traveling on orders eliminates the baggage fees.

What they guy didn't have was his orders. The customer service agent could of been in hot water for exempting his baggage fees. Basically, he/she would be violating company policy (as I understand it, I don't work at AA)

It's really a non-story...soldier should have had his orders, CSA shouldn't be rude. Either way, they guy's going to get his money back when he files his travel voucher with the military.

CSR should not be rude. Passenger should have had orders. Why is this news? No orders, no entitlement. Everyone knows that entitlements are only for members of congress-----

This is not an isolated incident, happens quite a bit, the press always dosen't catch wind of it. What do you expect from AArogant agents?

But when the CSA's go on vacation, they mysteriously always get on oversold flights..... Hmm:rolleyes:



Oh yea.....Didn't AA threaten two reservists out on MLOA a few years ago with their jobs?

Just wondering, as my screen name implies, It's not really my business. But having lived in the US and having the utmost respect for the US military but even more for the respect the american people show their military (something far to be seen in my country unfortunately).

It is almost a given that military personal is being given all sorts of benefits and the airlines should not profit from this. This in a cutthrout business(respect, don't get me wrong) but no word of disgust of the immense PROFITS the defense industry is making on the backs of the soldiers?

Why is there no outcry about this? Are the American defense companies less patriotic??

Why should American companies, that already operate on a thin bottom line give(and expected to give) all sorts of amenities while the defense industry is making billions?

Just asking? Very un-American, but still, just asking?

Because the the Agent's are miserable, and treat everyone like ****! They don't care if your a Captain commuting home or a member of our armed services travelling on orders.

I agree with others on the two simple points:

1) Airline reps shouldn't act like a-holes to people.

2) *ANY* type of passenger needs to have with them whatever form of credentials is required to receive the benefits that they are seeking. Simple.

The same reason for everything else you can think of. Greed.
