DAL interview a one shot deal?
 

I was shot down in early '98. Was wondering the same thing. A lot has happened since then.

I don't know about today's environment but I do have a friend at DAL who was interviewed twice, turned down in about 1991 and later hired in 1996. But that was a long time ago, I don't know what "rules" they are using today.

Back in the mid '80's hiring boom, they wouldn't talk to you at all if you already were flying for another 'Major' ie. Republic, Alegheney, American, Eastern, etc. but I had a couple new hire class mates who were from People Express, and a few were in the UAL strike pool as well. You might want to contact whom ever you get an invite from and ask them directly.

But if they think you are 'not competitive', why would they be interviewing you in the first place? It's not about total time, it's about attitude.

Let Delta decide if you're competitive. Better to get in on this wave of hiring than the next. Good luck.

From what I was told recently, more than likely. I would say yes, but things change.

Right now, I'm at around 3400 TT with 1400 Turbine under 121. I have 1700 PIC, but have no turbine PIC time. I noticed they didn't require any turbine PIC time so I figured I have nothing to loose by applying even though I'm not even close to competitve.

If it's a one shot deal, I'm wondering if I'm better off waiting till I can get some turbine PIC time.

If they give you the interview, the TPIC time does not matter. At that point they are looking at the person and not the time. They only thing they would want to know is if you did not upgrade for QOL issues, or if it was due to the inability to hold it. (BE HONEST)

Go for it. If you get the interview, then you are competitive. Why put off when you could be gaining seniority. In the last hiring wave, there were quite a few that were in their 20's. Some will be in the single digit seniority numbers when they retire.

From what I've heard there are 9 guys with single digit seniority numbers and they have said they will keep that number steady at 9 when the retirements really kick in. :)

During the last hiring round (2007-08), the deal was that if you failed the panel interview, you were done for good. If you failed any of the computer tests, you would be eligible to reinterview 6 months later. You'd have to go through the whole process over again. There are several on property who had to do it twice.

Since it sounds like the current interview process hasn't changed, I would assume the same policy still applies.
