Default Pax accuses Delta Pilot

Didn't see this one anywhere else on the Board

A Southern California woman is kicked off a Delta Airlines flight after reporting that she smelled alcohol on the pilot's breath

A Toluca Lake woman was recently kicked off a Delta Airlines flight after reporting that she thought she had smelled alcohol on the captain's breath.

Cynthia Angel said the incident occurred on July 19 as she was trying to travel home to Southern California from Georgia. She had just spent two weeks visiting her son, an actor, who was shooting a movie near Atlanta

For what it's worth, I've read on another site that the accuser would not stop yapping in the cabin leading to her eventual removal.

....And for the love of God, if you value your sanity, don't start reading the "Comments" section. Steam will be coming out every orifice of your body within a few minutes.

Man, sounds like she wanted a free flight and some upgrades along the way. And, if she was chatting with the CA along with a few other pax, where are their statements? The media in LA sucks, to be polite. Its all about bringing down "the man." I read some of the comments...sounds EXACTLY like LA.

Yeah I really wish I took your advice on that one. I almost slammed my new mac against the wall of this crappy hotel room.

The problem with our passengers today is that they think they are entitled to be involved in the process. She thought it was up to "her" to make sure the flight departed safely. Screw the rest of the professional crew. Passengers today don't trust us. Everyone just thinks they are smarter then everyone else.

Some days I really hate what this industry has become. I hate to say it but back 30 or 40 years ago the captain probably "was" drunk and no one would have cared in the least bit.

I feel like getting drunk after reading that crap.

Good on the Captain for kicking her off the flight.

I saw this story on TV tonight. She definitely looks like she is wanting to shake down Delta for a few dollars. I see she has already hired an attorney, imagine that. Unfortunately, she'll probably take Delta to the cleaners.

I would have kicked her off as well. It's hard to concentrate on your job when you have people like her on board.

Agreed. But I would have called for a voluntary breathalizer so that I had documentation that the accusation was false. I hope the Captain did that. I know it would have delayed the flight a bit, but I think the rest of the normal passengers would understand.

Heard the story earlier and both pilots volunteered to leave and take a breath test which turned up negative.

Perfect.

This happened to a buddy of mine some time back. He didn't kick the guy off. He simply made a PA as to why the flight was going to be delayed because of the accusation voiced by the gentleman in seat 16C. The crew got off to do the breath test. When they returned, the passenger got off "voluntarily." Apparently the other passengers let him know he wasn't welcome - loudly.

I think the Captain did take the test. From the article.

"The manager wanted to hear what I had told the flight attendant," said Angel. "He then told me the captain took a test that proved he did not have anything to drink."

Agreed Carl. Our society has so "empowered" airline passengers that they now think they are in control of the aircraft...and, I might add, at SWA ticket prices. They have very little idea, if any at all, of what it takes to operate an airline. This lady personifies the victim mentality of our country. Falsely accuse, lawyer up, and sue. Nice.
