Stick-
The thoughts posted are talking points only- I understand that political, religious, etc. responses/threads are verboten- but I was responding to this thread specifically- which has some previous posts along these lines and has been allowed to "live" so to speak. I wouldn't have done so otherwise- I was an active member of Pprune (UK) and would surely not want to see this site resemble Pprune. I've only posted here where I thought I might contribute- since I'm not an aviation professional or airline employee, I typically can't speak to most of the issues here, typically only where I might see an impact as PAX -but I have been enjoying learning alot reading the posts.
I believe that most of what I posted is true/mostly true w/o undue untrue influences, rather they might be incomplete.
To clarify my position-
1. I support our men and women 110%- without regard to my thoughts of or merits of the current conflict.
2. We are treating the symptom- terrorism- without looking at the illness- some of the possible root causes.
3. Terrorism is a cancer on the planet and unfortunately the airlines see the brunt of it (from a business standpoint).
In closing, I hope everybody, regardless of political or religous affiliation -thinks deeply, and questions and debates everything, before closing their minds and taking their stand.

Tsa
Give it time and TSA will change their SP again. When your going through security at the airport make sure you have your uniform on and tell them that you are going to work. I heard from a tsa supervisor that they are already working on a new SP and should have it out soon. I wonder how this will affect the vlj market. If they ever went to a no carry-on policy a lot of business people will be very angry because they cant have their laptops and ten other bags with them. Plus who has much faith on airlines delivering checked luggage on time anyway.

Back on thread- I have to say the current situation does not really encourage me to fly commercially unless it really warrants it. It's not fear, but an increasing lack of productive time and a less enjoyable experience overall.
flyboeingjets, you'll find most business travelers tend to pack light anyway, but they do want their laptops and their other toys/tools of the trade- iPods and cellphones, etc.
I've already taken the tack of checking baggage aside from my computer case, I'll wait the 10-20 minutes to get my bag- never had a problem- as a metter of fact, except at my home airport (when time is less critical) I usually come close to meeting my bag right as I reach the baggage claim.

I don't blame biz travellers for not accepting new carry-on rules. They want to be productive during all that down time----and they deserve to.
Thanks to arab muslim terrorists----they can't.
