New FAR's on Rest...It's all about VOTES
Well the NPRM on flight time/duty time is out...yipee.
And some of it looks like we went backwards.
Somehow...ALPA was the ONLY member of the ARC who got an advanced sneak peek las week so Prater could brief his people.
Someone needs to ask WHY the report was leaked to only ONE member of the ARC.
The rules are a slap in the face to pilots and the families of Colgan 3407 who lobbied so hard for us to have decent rules.
And Prater? Watch closely. After the firestorm begins, he will step forward and "broker" the deal he's already cut with Babbitt and the FAA to give us back one more hour. He will sell that point as the reason he should be re-elected.
Lorenzo had the balls to tell you to your face he hated your guts. Prater takes your money, drinks your booze, smokes your stogies and tells you how much he's doing for you...while he sticks a shiv in your back.
What's next?? My money is on him supporting a 500 hour airline pilot.
It's starting to sound more and more like "Taking it Back" was really "Taking one IN the Back" for Prater.

People need to read this thing VERY VERY carefully...it changes everything about the way your day will go.
It is almost ALL duty based. There is NO 30/7 ANY LONGER!
100/1000 limits are now "rolling calendar days" and not CALENDAR BASED! 100 in a 28 day period is a significant give back.
13 hour max duty day. 9 hours min rest that can still be reduced (1 time a week).
10 hours flight time depending on the time of day.

The ALPA proposal of INCREASING allowable flight time combined with age 65 are both good reasons to FIRE Prater and get some new leadership. Two of the biggest changes in our careers and Prater and his cronies blew it. I am pro union, just not the leadership of this union.

I guess this takes care of the rest seat issue on the B757.
Another false start for recalls.
Thanks ALPA for letting Prater destroy our careers. Are you ready to sign a NLRB card yet? What more is it going to take?

(b) No certificate holder may schedule and no flightcrew member may accept
an assignment if the flightcrew member’s total flight time will exceed the following:
(1) 100 hours in any 28 consecutive calendar day period
No more "good as new" on the first of the month. Good for some operations, bad for others, I'm sure.

Looking it over, it seems that we have actually moved backward in some areas. In terms of allowing ten hours of flying in one day, I'm fine with that. I would much rather fly to STT and back vs sitting in coach one way deadheading.
And what's this about the company and the PIC jointly deciding to reduce rest by one hour. Because I'm an FO I don't get a say in how tired I am and how much rest I need? I call bull$hit to that.
