Jet Blue Canceling orders?
I was in the Airbus training center in MIA yesterday (its where the N American Sales and Marketing Office is located) and I heard some folks saying that Jet Blue was canceling 10 firm orders. I have yet to see this in print anywhere. Does anyone at blue have any info on what could be happening?

I agree with ACL and I'll add If they start talking about cutting costs by 30% then its merger time. Seems like 30% is always some key number in big business. My wife worked at Bellsouth and before the AT&T merger it was "cut costs by 30%" across the board.

That is an easy target number. That is generally the cost of duplicate corporate structures.
I would love to see what they do with the B6 terminal in an AA tie up. It would be a great domestic terminal for Ma Delta.

That was no merger, SBC acquired AT&T, and then then acquired BellSouth (and also gobbled up Cingular in the process, which SBC owned half of with BellSouth).

I am thrilled that this is the rumor, as most rumors that we see online are:
A: Not very likely, or:
B: 99.44% false.
I may eat my hat but, well I guess I don't have one to eat, but if I did:
1: AMR receives very little benefit from buying us (B6) that they cannot realize from some type of partnership.
2: DOJ/FAA/DOT currently seems to favor the consumer (read low price fare) above all other. Combining AMR & JBU via a merger, puts a LCC (gov favorite flavor at the time) with lots of slots and a terminal, or maybe two in time, with a legacy carrier established in the same NYC area. From their perspective, why not just find a way to coordinate schedules to make connections work and share the revenue without the complexities of a merger?
In short, what benefits will AMR receive from spending the money (paying overpaid lawyers) that they could not receive from some type of partnership?
That all being said, no one here at B6 wants to take flying from AA pilots, as I hope the recent contact between our pilot groups have communicated to each other.

My bet is AMR has a hostile takeover of ALK. You get the nice west coast flying, same aircraft types, little overlap (unlike buying JB) and you take away the feeder to "Ma Delta". Match made in heaven
