What fuel economy has your Major imposed?

What fuel economy has your Major imposed?
Hey Guys,
With the price of oil around $80 per barrel, what adjustments, if any did your own carrier implement, re: mach adjustment, since the price skyrocketed years ago?
Years ago, I'd be passing Alaska jets in a Lear at .78 Mach and I always wondered what their reduced mach speeds were.
Any Numbers nowadays for B-717,737, 747, 757, 767 ,777, DC-10 and MD-82 would be swell.

At Continental we run a cost index as well. We are told to adjust the cost index so as to touchdown and be at the gate on time. We run anything from cost index 0-400 which, on the 757 is anywhere from .77 to .83. It gets frustrating though when we are trying to run fast along the East Coast only to get slowed due to clogged airways full of Southwest 737's doing .74.....But hey, they sure can taxi fast...

Very mature. I guess you are very proud. Your kids will appreciate that someday when they have to pay $200.00 to fill their car.

I was thinking the same thing...........There's other ways to make a point, but wasting gas isn't one of them, and one day you just might need that "burned fuel". The oil companies must love you. Your actions hurt EVERYONE in the long run.

While his actions may not be all that mature, they are certainly understood. If any airline wishes for its pilots to act like professionals, perhaps they should consider paying them as such.

The E190 fleet at JB seems to be always planned at .78 (at least I've never seen a different number on the flight plan). Above 350, our LRC speed actually increases to .79 for most weights, so we never seem to be going slow. I know the Bus is planned with CI but have no idea what speeds that translates to. Seems to mostly be .78 when they're asked by ATC....

About two years ago SWA changed their cost index and slowed down significantly. 261/266 kts in the descent pretty much everywhere that ATC/procedure allow.
I didn't know that 737NG's and A320's conflicted since the 737NG is normally a couple thousand feet above the A320 (warning...meant as a friendly taunt, not the begining of a hate-fest).
