Upgrade

Based solely on retirements, no growth, a July 2005 hire would be Capt eligible Nov 2007. That's without the new 777's and NG's arriving next year. I hope this pans out, it's my third time in this position.

Bid Newark 777. Live near EWR (within two hours) or commute from where you live (most of the 777 flying is commutable). Houston 777 is too senior. Enjoy the 17 hour legs!

Is 787 pay going to be as high or higher than 777 pay? Any chance the 787 will be based in CLE? How long are the legs going to be for the 787? I hope they're not 17 hrs too.

Chief...it's my way of being sarcastic.
Ummm...OK.

I don't worry about gaining respect especially from someone on an internet message board.
That's a good thing. One less thing to be paraniod over.

Where did you get that information from?

There are several programs that will forcast this and they are fairly accurate. I just ran it and it shows the same as he mentioned. Of course this assumes no change to age 60 issues.

Correct me if I'm wrong. Most junior CA on 06-07 is 3825 sys seniority. Request the seniority prediction from the web & you'll find that a Jul '05 hire breaks 3800 seniority in Nov '07. Double-check me because I already started spending the money on fur coats and breitlings.

787 will be same pay as 777 (widebody pay). There is no chance that it will be based in CLE. The 787 legs will be as long or longer than the 777. If you're in CLE area, plan on the 737's. The 757's in CLE are EWR based pilots traveling through CLE. The CLE 757's do some Florida flying, Vegas, LA, and London out of CLE.

I was told by a CAL pilot last week that the CLE operation for CAL will become virtually all "Barbie-jets":) in the future. (That was his term.)

FWIW.

You will also be on reserve for the rest of your natural life. Those of you who work here already know that CAL has the absolutely WORST reserve system of all the majors and is quite possibly the most understaffed airline as well.
