The answer is the IMPLANT MICRO-CHIP. You will not have to carry an I.D. for anything. The FAA can scan your a#$ with their favorite wand of the day and all will be well. Mmmm........I can't wait.

And there standing in his Bluebery glory is the TSA agent. As you walk up to the check point he states in a Mock German Accent... State Your Purpose, and present your Papers Please, your Papers Now! Schnell!!!

Maybe they should run a fingerprint check (not retain our fingerprints, just check them against known bad guys).

Mostly window dressing though. It might help out the DEA a little.
An ID from a 121 airline is not government issued, thus technically doesn't suffice. I have been told this when going through security while not in uniform. I know, there is more vetting for an airline crew ID than an FAA certificate. Nevertheless.....

We already have a federal I.D. called passport. You have to have it for CASS which is not a guberment program, yet the FEDS want to reinvent the I.D. To get through security?

Default FAA coming to their senses!

The title of this thread is an oxymoron.

So as of some magic date we are all going to have to get new licenses? That means every pilot in the U.S. who currently has a license will be doing this at the same time. That's a lot of tickets to process.

I'm sure it'll work out just fine.

The NPRM has a phase in schedule. ATPs at some point (3 years?), COMM after another year and PVTs will have another. The mind blowing part is what the FAA says this will cost pilots. Over 20 years, pilots will spend +400 million on this. They figure 175 for each certificate. That's the 22 to OKC (They're expecting it to go up to 50 under cost of living increases), getting the photos and going by the FSDO or a DE (who can charge above and beyond the 22 to OKC.)

I'm assuming that you'd no longer need to carry a photo ID. Other countries print the certificate holder's picture, why not the FAA?

Not too excited about the $22 and 8yr expiration thing though...
