American Airlines latest?
Hi everyone,
Please could someone tell me the latest on how many AA pilots are on furlough and how quickly they're being brought back? Thanks, D |

Check out the" AA 777's from JAL" thread. Your answer lies within. |
I am hearing 1 guy coming back for every 10 calls going out....

That's because there are better jobs (and companies) out there. Bottom RSV S-80 F/O in LGA? No thanks. If AA fixed their RSV system, there might be more takers. It is the worst in the entire industry, by far.

I was just going to say, I think USAirways takes the cake on that one!

A 10% return is steep for AA. You've got to figure there are TWA guys that haven't flown in 10 years. That's a lost decade. You've got to have started another career. How many of the 1,000+ are at Delta, UPS, FedEx, JetBlue. Who's going back?

The 10% return has more to do with timing then not returning.

Please could someone tell me the latest on how many AA pilots are on furlough and how quickly they're being brought back? Thanks, D Total Furloughed pilots: 2763 Recalled 946 Recalled then went MLOA 281 Deferring 676 Remaining recalls 1173 AE Flow thrus 422 Classes of 30 are starting every 2 weeks (approxiately). However, they have reached the point in the recall where 180 AE pilots will be next (they must flow up per arbitration decision), that will take us through summer. After that, the recall will resume where it left off. Approximately 1 of every 3 recalls are returning, the rest are deferring. Some will defer until they have more seniority, some will take the recall and go on a MLOA, some will defer as a "back up" plan to their current situation. Once they reach the end of the list the 3 year deferral clock starts (probably early 2012). New hire classes will follow. The bad news for new hires is that there will be a potential for all of the deferring pilots to return during those 3 years, then when the clock ends, they will recall in reverse order. This time they must return or resign. For new hires it will be a crap shoot because there will be know way to know how many deferrals will return for at least another 3 to 5 years. |
