Introducing APC iPhone App.

We would like you to welcome you to the exclusive Airline Pilot Forums iPhone Application!
You may download our new application here. Airline Pilot Forums Mobile for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad on the iTunes App Store

You may be thinking, great, but what does this app do?

iThe application works with all Apple devices running iOS 3.2 and higher.
This means the iPhone 4, iPhone 3G/3GS, iPod Touch and even the iPad!
It enables you to post, read, edit messages, upload photos, send PM’s and use the site pretty much as if you were sitting in front on your computer!

Do I have to pay for it?

No. :)

I have an Android, Nokia/Symbian, Blackberry/Windows/Motorola/Palm DynaTAC etc.

Sorry! We are developing an Android app. For other devices, we will continue to offer our mobile version, which enables all the core features of the site (viewing/posting).

We may develop other apps in the future, depending on the need for them. We may also work on expanding the mobile version of our site, which works on all devices.

Glad we got it approved.

Clunky....did Delta IT have a hand in this?

If they had, it would be written in FORTRAN.

FmrFreightDog 01-17-2011 05:12 PM

It needs the pull down to update thing that facebook has. Now if you want to check updates to a thread you were already on you have to back out and reenter. For 1.0 though, I think it's pretty good

Desert Sky 01-17-2011 06:56 PM

I like the app! Out of curiosity, did APC consider saving money on development for the app and just use Tapatalk which is free for the forum?

fjetter 01-17-2011 07:02 PM

Mother of god...just when my apc addiction couldn't get any worse.

...written from the new app of course!:D

Our dreams have been answered... how did you know that at night, me and my iPhone lay together, dreaming of this day, where I can look at APC anywhere I go...

;-)

I already could with the iPhone. Now, it's easier. Sent from my app on the iPh4.

Yeah, but now it's even easier!

Tapatalk is NOT free for the forum, it's been discussed before, check the search for details. I think having a dedicated APC specific app for the forum will serve the community better than a third party app, like tapatalk.

Desert Sky 01-18-2011 12:19 AM

I must say that the APC app is better than Tapatalk…

c9skytrain 01-18-2011 10:35 AM

APC is on tapatalk? I can't find it.

Whats the mobile web address? Ive never seen it advertised before.

Spooledup 01-18-2011 08:00 PM

Gotta love the 12+ ratings on the left side:

Rated 12+ for the following:
  • Infrequent/Mild Profanity or Crude Humor
  • Infrequent/Mild Mature/Suggestive Themes
  • Infrequent/Mild Realistic Violence
  • Infrequent/Mild Sexual Content or Nudity
  • Infrequent/Mild Horror/Fear Themes
  • Infrequent/Mild Simulated Gambling
  • Infrequent/Mild Alcohol, Tobacco, or Drug Use or References
  • Infrequent/Mild Cartoon or Fantasy Violence
I'd say that's about right.

In all honesty, I cut & paste the stuff about the Android Mobile version from our IT guys. I haven't successfully found a non-iPhone mobile version yet. I'll ask the IT guys.

How do you skip to the end of a thread such as "latest and greatest?".

Takes too long to slid across screen

The APP has one major weakness in that you have to slide 5000+ posts to read the last post in Latest Delta. Gotta fix that guys! I'll
stick with Safari until that is fixed. :(

You only have to scroll ONE time. Every time thereafter it will take you to the last page you are on. Just FYI.

Unless you accidentally hit the top bar and go to a single digit page, then you have to do it all over again. :(

But even when you do that, the next time you go into the app it starts way back to where you first opened it. IOW every time you use it, you have to scroll through dozens and dozens of pages to get to a current unread post. What gives?

Toejam 01-23-2011 03:57 AM

Downloaded it. Tried a few times to get to the end of monster Delta thread, and halfway through the scrolling process, I hit the top bar that reset it back to page 1. Very frustating, deleted the app.

Agreed... Nice try, but the app is useless until you get a "first new post" button.

porpilot 01-23-2011 06:17 AM

Agree. Use safari on I phone still because I don't have to scroll to the end. App needs a "last" button

iaflyer 01-23-2011 06:54 AM

I'm not trying to dogpile here, but the app is useless without a "last post" button or something. Really - the main thread I use is the Delta L&G but with thousands of pages of post, I'm not going to spend the time swiping on and on to get to the end.

Ferd149 01-23-2011 06:56 AM

I've already deleted it and have gone back to a bookmark.

TreesandPowder 01-27-2011 04:47 AM

requests

1. Need a "go to first unread" feature.

2. Need offline reading capability, at least for subscribed threads.

calflyboy 01-27-2011 06:57 AM

How about just adding tap@talk? That app works flawlessly for me and it is also available for all the other operating systems out there (webos, android, etc.).

Great suggestions guys. I personally was NOT involved in the development of the app. It would be good if you guys rated the app in the app store, & wrote these suggestions in the review section. I'm sure the original creator could make some updates to meet our requests.

Tapatalk works great for us Android users.
