Sick on rotation question at DL

I'm in the middle of a rotation on overnight in the dc area. Today I started feeling lousy and upon reaching the hotel tonight I inquired about a nearby urgent care clinic. Good news, there was one about a block away. Bad news is that I tested positive for influenza. Called tracking and got off the remainder of the trip.

1. Am I on my own tomorrow with regards to accomidations if I'm too ill to go home?

2. Is transportation to the airport on my own?

3. The way I feel know I can't imagine getting on an airplane. Anything else I should know or do?

This is the wrong place to ask any contract questions. You should go to the Dalpa forum contract section. I will give you my opinion and what I have observed in the past. The company will take care of you and you can remain at the hotel until you can DH home. They will provide transportation. If you have questions or issues call the CPSC or the duty pilot if after hours.

My experience is exactly what Sailing said. A few years ago I had severe food poisoning on a layover. They told me to just stay in the hotel for as long as I needed to and then they DH'd me home to my hometown. Very painless. Although it probably helped that I was vomiting while talking to Crew Tracking telling them I was sick.

God guys. Sorry for asking a question of my fellow Delta brethren. CPSC is closed for the night, the OCC didn't have any answers and told me to call back tomorrow morning. The hotel I'm at is sold out for tomorrow, and are requesting me to check out at my scheduled 0450 time. For whatever reason I can't get the PWA to download. Sorry for being proactive and asking a question. I won't do it in the future.

Ranger,

Sorry you aren't feeling well. There's nothing worse than being sick away from home. I'm a little embarassed at the reception you're getting here. I had this happen two weeks ago. Just call tracking and speak to a coordinator. I think it's their "discretion" but I can't imagine they will be anything but helpful. They were for me.

Lighten up on him guys. It may be you next time.

OCC duty pilot should be there 24 hrs a day. Sometimes you get the VM if they are taking a short break. I don't think you'll find anything about your situation in the PWA so I wouldn't waste my time there. I'd just call crew tracking and get them involved with crew accomodations to set you up until you can get home.

If all else fails, start leaving messagaes on your local CP's phone....if you leave enough messages they will either call you back or get sick of listening to your messages and they will call the poeple you need to talk to and have them call you.

Ranger,

Check your PMs.

They'll take care of you.

Get well soon.

Cheers,

Had similar happen a while back... except I spent half the flight in the bathroom!

They let me stay in the hotel until I felt I was at least able to function enough to get to the airport and dhd home. They will take great care of you.

Gotta love Internet tough guys. Just ignore the posts like that ranger, they usually crawl back into their holes if you do.
