Specifically, choice #3.
Looks like it might be decision time for some RAHbros.
Going to be fun watching this discussion unfold. Let's keep it civil for a few pages if we can.

Basically, we are waiting word from our union right now on what to do. Not quite street hiring, but more or less sell your soul to WH in exchange for perpetual reserve. I'll take the Tower of London please.

We just got screwed and do you think we should just say that it is alright, go forward as one now?
Or are you proposing we be one and still keep the 7 year fence?
Do you think we should be IBT represented, ALPA?

My question to you is should we join together and watch our SLI arbitrated seniority be implemented? Rough idea, I lost about 600 numbers.

Keep the fence...I'm not a fan of it, but it is what the arbirtrator decided was fair...go foward with the list. Stop trying to play off each other to BB's benefit.
IBT...ALPA screwed YX guys...the competely failed on all of their promises of Prater getting a new zip code and all and hung YX out to dry. IBT got results...you may not like or agree with the results that they got, but they did the best for THEIR pilots...become one of THEIR pilots and get results. IBT is a real union, you go on strike and the whole company shuts down...garbage doesn't get collected, packages don't get delivered, things don't get built or fixed, anyone with an IBT member card completly stops doing ANYTHING for the company.

Do you realize how many numbers myself and other original RAH lost?? That doesn't stop me from understanding how important it is to be ONE list, and ONE pilot group against the management's agenda.

Hiring/training FOs takes much longer than upgrading captains. To keep the lists balanced, FO hiring must take place before captains are upgraded. Captains can not be upgraded until there are replacements hired.
You guys keep yelling to us F9 guys that WH is the enemy, but it is the IBT's knife sliding back and forth on my throat that currently has me worried.

I'm glad that FAPA is protecting its members by working with RAH to come up with some common sense rules wrt hiring. It protects us from the damage of the SLI, especially for to the junior guys at F9.
The SLI is wrong in so many ways:
1. If the SLI is ever implemented, I will go from retiring with about 80 guys ahead of me to about 600. Put another way, if Frontier becomes the size of United in 20 years, the SLI moved me from 747 captain to 767 captain. That doesn't seem terribly fair and equitable to me.
2. The guys in my seniority range from the RAH side are barely qualified to apply to fly in the right seat with me.
3. When I was at the same point in my career as the aforementioned pilots are now (junior regional captain), most of them were about 20, and one of them was 15 (he was 7 when I soloed).
4. I may move up in the seniority until the fence comes down, but after that, I will probably slide backwards in relative seniority for the next 10 years or so.
I hope that the RAH guys will take this into consideration before getting upset about the hiring conditions.
