You could back door seniority me all you want!
True. But I commuted for years, I'll take... sigh... DAY 18 hour layover then 9 hour in JAX airport hotel over a nice trip out of NYC if I don't have to commute again. And if I move up to the 737 or ER, I get the benefit of more pay and the option not to commute all of the time, maybe at worst most of the time, while the shlubs ahead of me sit on reserve for years and are used right up to 69.9 hours while I have a ball... at their expense.

I mean would I do it? I wouldn't bid it to do it if it was an option, but if I already were NYC 73N B living in north Atlanta, how could I not do it for my own sake? Now eventually people would copy cat and then it'd get harder to do it but how long would that be and how many pilots in more senior bases be screwed out of moving up?

I mean ATL-NYC is one example, I guess another could be a pilot living in SEA that can only hold MSP doing the same thing.

This poll should put to rest the views of the average pilot. Trip parking has got to go!

But according to the ALPAites, the forums don't represent the views of the average line pilot........

or do they.....

I think the term is self selection bias.

That's what Management would usually say about ALPA during contract negotiations. It was easy to find some people who would tell them what they wanted to hear.

Lets say I wanted the 737 but didn't want reserve, then what I could do is bid NYC 737 and then try to swap back in to ATL trips. Meanwhile ATL pilots senior to me would be on reserve while I fly 70, 80, 90 or so hours.
For you to get that high time you'd have to find someone based in ATL who would want to fly your NYC trips. I don't see how you could get 70-90 hours doing it that way.

I agree we need to fix trip parking before we allow oob pilot-pilot swaps.

I'm not a trip parker, and I'm not a statistician, but all I can tell tell from this survey is that 66 anonymous web board posters (who may or may not be Delta pilots) are opposed to trip parking.

But there are 10 who came here for Delta patented inappropriate pics. That's 10 people who didn't vote yes or no and skew the numbers any worse.
