Southwest commuters
To all those that commute to a Southwest base, how often do you find yourself having to buy a hotel at the beginning or end of your trip? I have heard that with only AM or PM starts that it is difficult to commute in on day 1 and commute home on the last day depending on your start time. Can one modify their line to make it a commutable schedule?

Commuting at SWA
I commute at Southwest and fly PM trips exclusively. I fly in on day one and home on day three almost every trip. I will get stuck on day 3 about 2-4 times per year. It really depends where you live and where you're based. I live in a city that has 10 flights a day to one of our bases but not everyone has it that easy. Thursday, Friday, Saturday trips are the easiest to commute on because Southwest stops flying so early on Saturdays. Go to Southwest.com and look at the route you expect to commute. That will answer the question for you. Which city will you be commuting out of?

Thanks for the info. Sounds like you finish early enough to catch some flights home most often. I would commute out of San Diego and if lucky enough to be hired then Oakland or Phoenix would be the best bases. Looks like they have plenty of options for flights to commute to those cities. With PM starts what time do you usually finish on the last day?
Thanks again for the info. Chrtrplt |
