Default Rest rules delayed to Nov/22/2011

Aug 1 is the congressional mandated date for the new regs, I searched and couldn't find anything that indicates it has changed. Anyone know anything about it?

From my understanding, Aug is when the new rules must be finalized, but there will be a period of time between when the final rules are announced in Aug. and when they will actually take effect

Ive heard that it will likely take years before everything is in the books. Once they begin, it will be implemented in stages. I wouldnt worry too much about it now cause its going to be a while...

Thats not true. I had a Fed on our jumpseat last week to DC and said that on Aug 1 the rules have to be on paper finalized and from there on they will be implemented in less than 12 months, he said there was some kind of rule where it has to be in effect within 12 months of when it is finalized.

It may be on the books but they can't implement it all at once. If they did it would be chaos at most airlines as they will all have to increase their staffing with an already depleted supply if pilots too quickly. There will likely be a schedule of when different parts will be implemented. Look at the 1500hr rule for example. It has been law for almost a year but doesn't take effect til 2013 officially.

This is my opinion though. It just seems logical they would spread it out cause there would be large numbers of flights cancelled because of not having crews or crews not being legal. I guess only time will tell.

They have known this was coming for the past year already. I feel the airlines should have prepared during that time.

There is no depleted supply or shortage of pilots!!!!

We are sitting at home furloughed or unwilling to start again at regional cr@p wages. When will people figure this out.
