Guys, I posted the original message on the "Rest Rules Delayed until" thread, and it was reposted here. Yes, this is the ORIGINAL proposal, and the link should take you straight to that.

The rules you see in Nov 2011 will be whatever the lobbyist pay for:

[Federal Register: September 14, 2010 (Volume 75, Number 177)]
[Proposed Rules]
[Page 55851-55889]
From the Federal Register Online via GPO Access [wais.access.gpo.gov]
[DOCID:fr14se10-24]

You know the open time *****s, that are senior will be drooling for those trips. Just like the guys at JB who opted to do the transcons until the faa put an end to it.

We did Transcon turns for 12 years in the Navy including west coast to Hawaii and back. When we flew during working hours it was a lot easier on the body then some of the crap DAL does now:

LAX 0445 sign in - GMAFB! If I was unfortunate enough to get this heap of crap I think I would just sleep in the Pilot lounge. Why not give this to an east crew laying over vice an originating west coast crew?

East coast 0630 push-back on day two of a 4 day west coast trip - Yikes!

So yes, with the proper restrictions, it would be OK with me. But as with everything, the devil is in the details. We will see just how much pull the industry lobbyists have when the final proposal is released.

A 7am sign in to do a 13 hour FDP is not gonna be a good thing. It is gonna mean for most people a minimum of a 5am wakeup etc etc etc... if you are one of the 85% commuters in NY, you can make that a 4am get up... yeah.. real good idea this is...

Don't worry. I'm sure CAPA will kill the most onerous of these provisions...

And ALPA will fight on behalf of the ATA to have them put back in.
