Jumpseat coordinator

Can someone PM me contact information of Delta's Jumpseat coordinator?

Any questions/issues regarding jumpseat should go through your airline's jumpseat coordinator first. He/she will then get in touch with our JSC to resolve it. That's just the standard protocol.

If you're Delta, log on to the DALPA site. There's a jumpseat section with the contact info.

Well, the reason I'm posting it here is that I'm with a foreign carrier and we don't have a jumpseat coordinator.

I suggest you contact ALPA's International Jumpseat Committee Representative by clicking on this link.

This is publicly available info, and the appropriate first point of contact for those international carrier pilots without a jumpseat coordinator who wish to inquire about jumpseat related issues with an ALPA carrier, such as Delta.

About that, can a jumpseat be denied because of an overweight jet? I got on the flight ok, but when I was told it was overweight I asked if I could jumpseat and the gate agent was not sure if a jumpseat was allowed because of the weight restriction.

Well, I can only speak for myself, but I will ALWAYS make the numbers work so I can get a jumpseater/s on. I'll never leave a pilot behind if I can help it.

Yes you can. It is either taking fuel off the aircraft, taking pax bags off the aircraft, taking revenue pax off, or taking YOU or non-rev's off the aircraft. Which one do you think it is going to be? Yes, it will be the jumpseater or non-rev. pax's 99% of the time.

I totally agree with WalkOfShame that I will do whatever I can to make the numbers work to get everybody on, if I can help it as well.

Some airlines include the weight of a jumpseater in the BOW of the aircraft. Some airlines don't. Some have policies that prohibit the bumping of certain pilots from a jumpseat (ie, the jumpseater is going, the aircraft will have to lose weight somewhere else to accommodate the weight of the jumpseater). These are all very dependent on the individual carrier's policies, as well as the CBA of the pilot group.

The PIC of the aircraft is the final authority as to the operation of the aircraft. If you are faced with an issue regarding jumpseating that you are unclear on, the PIC should always be consulted.

I see you're a DL pilot. If this was a DL flight, contact your Jumpseat guy.

I've never seen that website before, great info, thanks a lot.

The foreing carriers I know don't have jumpseat coordinators, but they still allow other carriers pilots to ride in the jumpseat if there is no room in the pax cabin.
One time I had a non-rev ticket to fly from SJU to MIA on AA and the flight was full, so I asked the gate agent for a jumpseat and she said that it wasn't possible because the plane was overweight. I asked her to talk to the captain but she said that the captain had nothing to say about it. So, I had to wait for the next available flight.

AA has some interesting jumpseat rules, including the role/power of gate agents. That being said, the PIC always has something to say about it, and you should forward such issues to your jumpseat coordinator so he/she can attempt to fix the problem so the next SJU non-rev pilot isn't left behind.
