Default Getting paid to de-ice (on gate)

How many get paid for this (with the brake set, and the flight not yet 'blocked out')

It's my understanding that Delta actually filed a complaint in NY with the department of labor, and are now paid, beginning with the transfer of responsibility (i.e. once the entry door closes)

Maybe the same path can be taken in Illinois.

What is the ACARS block out linked to? All companies I've worked for it is linked to parking brake release. Why don't you just release the brake then reset it?

we were doing that initially, but UAL squashed it (so I'm told).

*it's linked to the parking brake, and the pax door being closed.

AirTran. When the L1 Door is closed, the pay starts.

We have to move 50 feet to start getting paid. So we just move the plane and never deice at the gate.

What are we doing guys? When will we get out of this hourly wage nonsense? That's probably the biggest reason we have labor issues with management. We all do the same job, just different uniforms and aircraft. Let's get together and not the ALPA way!!!!!

that can't be done at ORD. it's all done 'on gate'

so you can sit there for 45 minutes (sometimes longer) waiting for the de-ice truck to make it's way over. all the while, the door is closed, and responsibility rests with the crew........for free.

* i should have clarified the airport.

Then the captain should drop the brake and reset it after the door closes. I was based in ORD for years and that happened every time.
