Southwest Rejection, again...

To be more realistic, the bottom of the seniority list can hold a bid on the ER. That doesn't mean they are going to fly international. I've got 12 years in and cannot hold international trips on the ER in NYC. Now, are there junior people on bigger equipment flying intl? Sure, but that was an anomaly and if the company ever sees fit to run an advancement, then I plan on jumping up.

Here's a 'rejection letter' story for you.
Back in 1972, Delta bought North East. North East was hiring at the time, but Delta Cancelled any NE Classes that had not yet started. My Dad was in such a class, that's the only way I know this.
But ONE GUY showed up for his class on the scheduled date. The NE guys told him DL had cancelled his class...he should have recieved a letter. This one guy was in transit, just got out of the Marines, and was driving cross country, so he missed the letter.
Well, just to 'poke Delta in they eye' NE held a class...for this one guy. The "Class Of One" and tacked him onto the bottom of their list. He retired from DL several years ago, after a long and glorious career!
My Dad ended up at NW, many years later...but he was always po'd he didn't show up for that class!

After a couple of RVN tours, I figured if I could fly a little faster, I wouldn't catch as many hits from the bad guys..........so I left the Green Machine, and got a UPT slot in the USAF. While driving to my class in Texas, I had a call relayed that all UPT was cancelled for the forseeable future ( think first big Arab oil embargo ) They offered me a WSO slot, but I declined and decided to give a little company in Memphis a shot.....plus I liked their purple paint jobs.
Worked out pretty well......you just never know in this industry !

BG

Got mine 2 days ago.
4200 TT
2000 T-PIC
737 type
Check airman
But no FMS/glass cockpit experience. From the detailed app it looks like this is starting to have some weight maybe?? Dunno. Didn't use to be on the application.
0/2... I'll keep applying until they tell me to shut up though

You asked for it, you got it. You even responded to it!
You're getting senile in your age, Oscar... don't realize the plane you fly has been referred to as the "FLUF" for 40 years and don't remember responding to the retirements, either!
Ooooh wee...Do I need to make another deposit of kittens on the I H8 WN thread?

That's an awesome story. Thanks for sharing it...
Hrkdrivr,
I'm DAL and not SWA, so please forgive my bias...
My impression is it's a tough time to get hired. There are a ton of qualified applicants and personnel departments can be exceedingly selective. Sometimes the "most qualified candidate" (on paper) may not be the "best candidate" as far as fitting in and working with others.
I don't know when DAL will start hiring. One thing I can say with confidence is the vast, vast majority of the pilots at Delta are not only competent aviators, but they are enjoyable to work with. (I'm sure SWA has many, many fine folks too.) In terms of job satisfaction, it's awfully nice to fly with good people.
Right now SWA is on top in terms of their current contract. But one thing that's a truism in this industry is "things change". We have a lot of retirements coming up and you can fly many different aircraft types as well as domestic and/or international.
This may very well work out for the best in the long run, though it may not seem like it now.
My sincere best wishes...

As far as the "fluf" thingy goes, we here at Southwestern trailways live in our own bubbles. I guess with 19k+ hours in the fluf I still have something to learn.

P. S. Look out because the purple plague cometh.
