Overview of Spirit Airlines
I'm interested in applying at Spirit. There have been a good number of pilots who have left my current airline and went there, the only problem is that I didn't personally know them so therefore I have no one to contact about what it is like to work for Spirit. I have read the online application and meet all the requirements, but before I submit it, I just wanted to know the intricate details that aren't published online. Any information is greatly appreciated.

It's a long read, and it goes off-topic, but, if you want to know what it's like to work for Spirit, that's the thread to read. 90% of the contributors are either current Spirit pilots, or pilots looking to work for Spirit who had/have the same questions you do. |
Can someone save me some reading and tell me in general what the health insurance is like for a family..what company, Premiums, deductibles, copays, etc...

On a personal note, I have been on FMLA for 6 months due to a sports injury. Management has been very understanding and easy to work with plus we have some good protections in the contract for things like that. The most difficult part is all the paper work I've had to turn into Aetna to get approved for long term disability but once I got all that in I haven't had any problems. We no longer have short term disability so it would be something to think about because the long term doesn't kick in until 90 days. So unless you want to burn all your vacation or have enough sick time built up you won't be paid. Once you get on long term you get 60% of your base pay up to $5,000 a month. I've had 3 surgeries, countless physical therapy appointments, way to many doctors visits to count, and haven't paid more than $1,000 out of pocket. Oh and all my copays are $11 and I don't pay those anymore since I met the deductible. Keep in my mind $1,000 out of pocket was from the end of 2011 and begining of 2012 so I had to meet the deductible twice. Don't forget you can claim the medical bills on your taxes and get a refund. I'm getting alot of what I spent back. |
