You are correct.

The engine on the E-190, though marketed as a CF34, is (with some various changes) the newest CFM56 from the 737NGs with a 4 inch smaller fan. It has very little in common with the CF34s found on CRJs / 170s.

Marketing wise, the 190 is an "RJ." In every other measure, it is a fully capable mainline aircraft.

That's funny right there. I don't care who you are. :D

PS-This comment is not directed at you Errbus, but rather the thought that anyone could market the E190 as an RJ.

The C-Series needs a Major US airline to order it. DAL has some good negotiating leverage wanting to dump 50 seaters. A 3or 2 for 1 on the lease penalties would work nicely. :D

Just learned from Wiki that the CF-34-10 has a core from a CFM-56 (737 engine). Who knew the largest RJ's now have the same engine as the Airbus and Boeing products. There sure are a lot of 20K engines out there.

I'd bet cash money if we let DCI run the C series, they'd. E ordered up I droves.

Management types are hoping that we cave.

Why would any airline want a C series when you can buy a A 319 NEO with same CASM on all the same stage lengths + 20 more seats? You RJ guys kill me….you don’t wish an aircraft into service…there is a reason no American airline is buying them????

Because it is reported to have a CASM that is 20% less than the 319NEO. Even Boeing's hooptied up 737NG is supposed to be 7% more efficient than the Cheese Eaters' airplane.

What if you don't need the 20 extra seats? You'll be paying for the fuel to haul them around for the next 30 years.

The C-series is state-of-the-art and highly optimized in it's niche. I'll venture to say that it cannot be beat in it's niche by any production airplane unless it ends up having serious ongoing Mx issues.

I'd actually like to see those in service (at mainline) just because of the GTF...anything which cuts 15% off the gas bill is good for all of us.
