"Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your Captain speaking. Pleasure to welcome you aboard. Today you are flying on a Douglas, MD88 ..."

So no flight testing? No research? No documets? Just a drunk and a pen?

Don't disparage drunks that way. Not all drunks are Douglas DER's.

Yeah, initial school was a good deal -- Oakwood Corporate Apartments in Seal Beach (plus a car) instead if the Holiday Inn North on Virginia Ave. :)
After our sim session, the techs had to pull out the "glass" and re-install the round dials for the AMR guys scheduled next. The FMS wasn't ready yet, so we used "arc" or "rose" modes until the magic stuff showed up later.

Bar, I think you have all of the information you need to make a compelling case to the AJC that Delta Air Lines operates 117 absolutely unsafe airplanes.

Evidenced by its full of aerodynamic improvements like a 1900D, using an FMS that is also used in Boeings and that if operated outside of Honeywell's recommendations can be unsafe, and because it was certified by a drunk over three martini's on a Friday... December 8, 1987... which was a Tuesday.

Oh my God, MD88 pilots fly it with their heads turned and eyes closed. It really just goes wherever it wants, cause it don't give a sh!t.

Would anyone be able to dig up Bucking Bar's 100 item MD-88 list? Anyone who hadn't read it when it was buried in the DL Latest & Greatest would get a second chance, and anyone reading it a second time will still laugh for a good twenty minutes.

It seems like the MD-88 wouldn't care if it were posted on it's birthday thread.

This probably isn't the one you meant, but it's one of my favorites:

ah... yes, no flare no tail.

I'm okay with that.

Hey! I was pondering on my commuter flt, if the MD88 is the Mad Dog... Is the -9 the Demented Cat? Born of witches, survived Southwest attempts to drown it as kittens? So EATS 737s just because for revenge. Dont screw with the big sister!
