You may fly that route. You may also use our much larger and way more powerful and reaching website, marketing and sales team to fill up to half of that flight for you, with no work, added expense or effort on your part whatsoever. And if you play your cards right, you can use our gates and agents, which are honor (honour?) bound to drop everything and cater to your every need. You may also keep all the revenue. All we ask is that you graciously allow, as well as celebrate appreciatively, our network's ability to grow vicariously through you so our management team can use another airline to fly its passengers without actually doing anything. Because that, really, is what strong long term labor really aspires to.

Man, you just really don't get it. No one on here (from DAL) is saying anything along those lines. However, if you can't honestly and objectively see how you (AS pilots) have benefited from the relationship, yes Delta as a company has as well, you are incredibly naive or completely in denial. Is the code share a profitable arrangement for Delta, absolutely. Are Alaska and its pilots benefiting from it as well, you bet. Are Delta PILOTS benefiting from the relationship, not strategically but tactically? Absolutely not. I think the only way you'll actually understand how this is working is if Delta and Alaska ever merge. I, for one, don't want to see it and I don't think you do either. Therefore, you probably never will get it.

Delta is not saving anybody. Besides what Delta is doing is accentuating what NWA started.
NWA was in bed with ALASKA, and now DELTA. I dont get it either. I wish we can all grow organically and stop diluting our culture and career progress.

It took airline management a long time, since deregulation, but they have finally figured out, there's no money in 'organic growth'. That's why they wanted all those code shares in the first place.
Organic growth costs a lot of money, and then you have to compete with someone else in the same market, and that means fare wars, and that means lost revenue.
We are in the 'consolidatin phase' that should have happened a long time ago, it might have prevented all the bankruptcies.
