Where is DAL going to let Alaska the 73-900ER

Um, say what? I think DL will be getting 100 737-900ERs. I don't know if AK will be getting any. They currently have 737-900s, but I don't think they are the ER version. AK hasn't added any flights from LAX lately, and they don't go to Hawaii from LAX. (DL does) They also don't compete with DL from SFO to HNL. They do hit every other Bay Area city to all the islands, but DL does not. DL used to fly PDX and SAN to HNL, but those were abandoned, and AK did miraculously added them a week afterwards. Maybe those cities could warrant 737 service to Hawaii, and the 757 was deemed too big? As far as SEA goes, AK has added AUS, MCI, STL, nonstop in the past couple months, and will trade MIA for FLL. DL has never flown from any of those to SEA nonstop. Will they add more nonstops from SEA? Maybe, but they seem to avoid almost every DL base, except their lone flights to MSP and ATL, where DL has two to three times the flights. There were some route swaps to Mexico (PVR and MEX) from LAX, but that is all I can think of.

Well isn't that special........I would guess they would replace the 738s that are flying to Hawaii on the more poplular routes, and the 738s will replace 737-400s that are probably going away. Will they ever be used from SEA to Japan? I wouldn't think so. I know the current 737-900s that aren't ERs are not currently scheduled to go to Hawaii, so maybe the 739ERs will? Their 737-400s are their oldest planes.

For clarification: Delta announced SAN-Hawaii, but never flew that route (western excepted). Just guessing, but DL realized they couldn't make money and abandoned the route before the first flight. AS promptly filled in (I'm sure DL colluded, but that's speculation, because collusion would be illegal). Most likely, AS is making money.
900er's are speculated to not be etops. Most likely will fill in on slot controlled routes. Perhaps EWR, BOS or DCA.
Route swaps are speculation at best. We've flown one to two flight to MEX, GDL and PVR for the better part of a decade. We also used to fly LAX-CUN, but apparently DL can do it better.
What can be said about "our alliance" is that there is a lot collusion. If you truly want an end to it, you would have to force a merger. Do the unions have that much power...

No, they do not. ALPA will be lucky to survive the TWA pilots' lawsuit. Let's face it, the union is a toothless, powerless organization that can't even organize and run a lemonade stand, much less force the merger of two large companies.

As a Seattle native I'd like to agree with the above statement. As a Delta pilot I believe that statement is not entirely true. Maybe someone smarter than I can chime in and provide the language from the agreement. There are restrictions for both DAL and AK. The title of the thread would pi$$ me off if I was an Alaska pilot too. Maybe the title should refer to DAL farming out more domestic feed.....
