Default Question about 747 weight restriction ATL-HNL

The load looks decent for now (50 open with 30 nonrevs) but I'm wondering if a weight restriction is likely. A friend of mine tried to jumpseat on the same flight yesterday but couldn't due to weight restriction and the plane left with a few seats open. The gate agent said that the HNL flight is weight restricted everyday. However, travelnet shows the flight is run by an A330 everyday until the day I want to get on when it switches to a 747. Does the 747 usually have a weight restriction on that flight like the A330?

The 747 shouldn't have any weight restrictions..About 3 yrs ago my wife and I tried getting on the DL A330 from HNL-ATL and it left with 50 open seats and they were asking for half weights..We didn't get on..Good luck

744 shouldn't be weight restricted on that short of a route, but I don't work at DAL.

Cant imagine a Pax -400 weight restricted on that sort of stage length even with the belly full of cargo.

The 744 should have no problem whatsoever with weight on ATL-HNL,,Even if they have engine blocks in lower cargo....Even Delta's computerized performance and weight and balance system isn't likely to screw that one up...Don't worry about that aspect of your trip.

I don't believe they show up until 24 hours before the flight or the day of.

Well ....... I have been weight restricted in a B747-400 on a 4.5 hours sector before. We were right up at max ZFW due to the cargo carried (iirc coins from the Australian mint being taken up to Singapore), so the sector length and max TOW is not necessarily a factor.

In the case you cite you were most likely limited by maximum landing weight as well as zfw but since the I don't recall there being a mint in atlanta (yes there is a federal reserve ) I think this chap will not have a problem getting a ride...Molon Labe!
