You have exactly NOTHING invested in your career, a career in which employment prerequisites are that you can fog a mirror and lift 50 pounds. How is it that you are in any way further qualified for anything aviation security related than a professional airline pilot?

Although you MAY have gone through the same background checks as pilots, flight attendants are not required to go through the same background checks. Some carriers do them, some don't. With the reciprocity of jumpseating becoming more prevalent, I am opposed to the notion. ALPA national is supporting it, for they see it as easier to garner support for pilot involvement in KCM and the former IATA paying for it

Also, I have CPR and First Aid training....how about you?
Also, in case you don't realize it, WE are the ones who will have to "take one for the team" IF the **** hits the fan during a flight. We are the ones trained in how to deal with cabin disturbances all the while you are locked behind a steel door.

Let's see what the mods have to say about "only pilots" being allowed to respond to your thread. BTW, there are MANY members here who are not only NOT professional pilots, they aren't pilots at all. I think I am more qualified than they are as I'm the one with a dog in this fight.

Hey, Slick that's quite a bit of animosity towards fellow crew members. Do you share those feelings with them while on a trip/layover?

His screennname is Slick.....
AND, what was wrong with my post? Just telling the truth with the utmost of respect. Again, what is the issue? BTW, I've reported some posts and await a mod response.
(Interesting that HIS post referencing "fogged mirrors and 50 lbs. didn't offend you.)

This is why FA's shouldn't be included. You have a false sense of entitlement as a "highly trained employee." I'm sorry to say that you're not. You are a waitress who is also handy to have in the event of an emergency. Let's call I spade a spade.
As for taking one for the team, that is a personal choice. You could argue that the average business traveler is at just as much of a risk of being involved in a terrorist act as a FA would be.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not here to beat up on flight attendants. Many are more educated and trained in other areas than I will ever be. All I'm saying is that a pilot can do a flight attendant's job, but I seriously doubt many of you could do our job without the years of training that we receive. Not being snarky, but what I'm saying is simply a fact.
