Question about Spirit hiring website...

Hi All,

I have a question regarding the online application site. This question might generally apply to all computerized sites...

I had sent in a resume to Spirit back in November. Never heard anything. I've now gone to the website and sent in a new resume. It told me I had previously applied for the job. I then went to my account (after digging up my username and password) and updated the uploadable resume portion of the page.

Will my resume now show up as updated in the computer system thus allowing a second look at my qualifications? Would this basically to the application sites for other airlines?

For those of you at Spirit, should 6100TT, 3600 Turboprop ME w/ 2900 Turboprop PIC, experience in Carib, South America, and India be competitive?

Thanks.

Ah, the Spirit application system. It's a carnival funhouse mirror. :o

My apologies, wish I could help. Maybe someone with recent interview experience can help.

Good Luck

I think you are more than competitive, but if you don't know anyone here, you don't have a chance...

GSOflyer. Don't sweat it too much. This place needs to realign itself somewhat before all that growth plan, if not, soon enough you'll be thankful that you didn't get call. Give it time and best of luck.

Can you expand on this a bit more? What do you mean? Any details?

Yeah the online system won't allow updates. I applied about a year ago; don't currently know anyone there.

I did manage to send in an update but I had to re-register with a new email addy to do so. I would hope that HR is painfully aware of the limitations of their system as the code is currently written. Sometimes it would seem that the old paper app system was better but I am sure there are benefits to the electronic process that aren't clear to those on this side of the equation.

I'm flying corporate now, prior 121 time. Not a clue how I would meet a Spirit guy/gal, let alone get an internal rec.

7000+ TT, 4100 PIC, 1400+ jet, former check airman, 5 types, love my mom, so on and so forth...

My background is almost identical to yours. I'm curious, why do you want to go back to 121, and why Spirit?

I'm struggling with my own career goals. Best of luck!

I believe Spirit is poised to grow, relatively speaking. I've always liked working at smaller companies - even if the money isn't as good as a major. Plus they are east coast headquartered.

Why back to 121? 135 is a lot more problematic in terms of trying to have a life than it was when I did it several years ago. And the increase in regulatory oversight, SMS, etc. is doing nothing to combat the rampant issues of rest time abuse and fatigue. I'll avoid it if I can - I find it extremely stressful.

I fly Part 91 now, but the gig is not quite full time and the pay suffers; corporate jobs, even for someone very motivated/knowledgeable, can be elusive. If it paid better I'd stay put. It's a mid-size jet co-captain position for a family, the schedule is fantastic, and it's low stress.

We will likely keep the HDQ in the east, but our growth isn't going to be in South Florida, it'll be somewhere else (the current 'flavor of the month' is DFW).

Can't help with the website - all of us here are aware of the 'no way to update' issue, but HR doesn't listen to us. Good luck to all who want to join up here. Go to a hiring fair we're @ if you don't have an internal rec. Do anything to get your name in front of HR.
