SkyHigh, get back into aviation!

SkyHigh, since i have been a member of this forum for the last month, your name has popped up more than any other. You need to get back into aviation and do us all a favor. Apply to all the airlines that you can( I think you already talked about Alaska) and get yourself hired. You will say that is easier said than done, but man the hell up and get it done. I am only a 19 year old private pilot but I believe in perseverance. If I was you, I would call the hiring office, or whatever they call it at the airlines, everyday and ask them if they have recieved your resume. Literally everyday. I would befriend/meet with as many airline officials as I could. I would suck up and get down on my hands and knees to get what I wanted. I know you want to be back flying, I know you do. If you didnt, then you wouldnt be on this forum talking about the airlines 24/7. You come with the attitude of "It doesnt necessarily matter how hard you try, it is about luck, etc." Im gonna call BS on that. Tell me what happens after you fight for a job as hard as Im telling you to do. Have you ever seen the movie "Rudy"? Watch that, it will teach you how not to quit. Dont go to your grave with this kind of bitterness about aviation and the airlines.

Thanks... I think i'm the only one to ever break the speed of sound in a 160hp piston... or at least the speed of smell.

Did you "doctor" it yourself? Can you send me a copy? Thanks.

Doctor it...? That's the real deal! Mach 1 in a Tampico!!! Actually a buddy of mine does a lot of production work and I had him do it for me. Let me check with him see if he cares about me passing it around. Thanks for the interest.

I understand where you are coming from, just realize you may be the Sky High for the next generation 20 years from now.

Thanks groovi. If it's ok with your friend, I'd really appreciate getting a copy. It is one of the best avatars here.

On a different note (and I'm trying my very best to steer away from the intent of the original thread), I noticed that the cargo guys prefer avatars of scantily-clad young women. Wonder why? Could it be a result of flying with boxes all the time? ;)

Lowtimer,

I'm not taking up for anyone, BUT I heard this comedian on XM 150 the other day. I can't recall his name ... he was talking about getting carded to buy smokes. He's mid 30 something and the cashier was trying to card him anyway. He told the cashier, "Look into my eyes. Look DEEP into my eyes. Do you see any hope?" The cashier complied with the request and just gave him the smokes on the house and told him to have a nice life.

I don't know how anonymous I am, but I've been furloughed twice (this time five years and counting) and I've experienced two mergers. I can hear an old Braniff, TWA, or PanAm guy somewhere calling me wet
behind the ears. The retirements are nothing like they use to be, but I have years left to make up for it with the 401K (I hope). You're not even safe in retirement these days. I have a friend that just retired from Fed Ex and he keeps telling me to come get a job with a, "Real Airline."

Anyway, be careful lowtimer. This is one cyclical, emotional, hypocritical profession we've all chosen and none of us are immune from down-turns and I don't care WHAT color your plane is. We are all one shoe bomb, CEO, oil shortage, LCC, strike, or recession away from the unemployment line. If you make it past all that and heart disease doesn't get you, you can look back and say, "I made a good choice" ... I guess?

With all that being said, I still can't think of anything I'd rather do than be in a cockpit some where. I'd like to get on with Lynx Jet!http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/im...ons/icon12.gif Now there's a 'real' airline. Be easy with the flames, folks.

J
