A 'commuter kid'? Pretty much all of us are in our mid 30's and early 40's - not necessarily a 'kid'.

Also, ask your friend how his international heavy experience is going to help him out of PHL or DCA. Fact is most of Airways flying is better suited for RJ folks, not an MD-11 in China. If he disagrees he is more than welcome to join me on a four day next month. All in the northeast, 4 or 5 legs each day.

7500+ 4500 PIC 3500 turbine 800 TPIC 121/135 domestic-international, no black marks, 5 year training event, masters, internal rec with a friend of 30 yrs who's a senior captain - rejection, no interview. Not to be sour grapes, I'm being honest, unless they got a halfway decent contract very soon I'd have been very unhappy there, and indeed, would have looked elsewhere.

yeager! you do realize there are tons of qualified
pilots today, right? be sure to not apply again then
in the future.."no sour grapes" lol, too damn funny!!

Merry Christmas to all! Ok so I just received a voicemail from a guy at US Airways from a 312 area code. Told me the same thing that I had recieved the email in error and to give him a call back. So I called and this what he told me. The email rejection was an error and went out to most of the people that had applied in both windows(as I had done). They highly recommend that you apply in all the windows according to him, but in this case it was a mistaken email and to be assured that I was still under consideration. Hope this helps some of you feel better and it sounded like a lot of people were getting calls today to inform them of the mistake. Best of luck to all.

Well, I looked to see if my status had changed then, still says "Not Selected".
Guess I'm just not what US Airways is looking for. No sour grapes, just didn't make the cut.

100 indefinite; I'm glad I made your day. Yes there are tons of qualified pilots out there. I think I'm one of the tons. To me there's just virtually little logic in how the hiring goes these days. If, and if its true, that the current regional pilots are getting the interview over military or furloughed or expired carrier 121 people it does makes me wonder. Is there a plausible reason? Probably not. But if there is a regional preference it does open up some regional slots, slots that pilots who've "been there done that" can fill, sort of the pilot pipeline recycling. Sorry, with my background and age I am not going to go back to a regional - there's better things to do. Does that make me a sour grapes Yeager? And yes, after 5 years if their current contract was to stay essentially the same, I would not have been happy. Neither, I suspect, would the pilots who are already there. This is what I should have written: I would have been happy to go there and work towards that sort of improvement - I wouldn't have applied otherwise. Good luck to everyone.

I see military pilots posting on here that they got the call for an interview and one had only 2000 hours and 0 time 121/135. If anyone should be upset, it is the highly qualified regional pilot with 6,000+ TT, internal rec, 1000's of TPIC, etc that isn't get the call and 2000 hour pilots are.

Truth, you are overqualified and can (and will) do far better ..... and they know it. Exactly why you were weeded out. They want happy go lucky RJ pilots who have little or no prospects of being very competitive at the premier global airlines (where you will end up with those quals)...

They did you a favor
