Long Call Reserve
It is my opinion that my company's "rules" for LCR make it nearly pointless to even have it. I'm looking to see what the industry average is on this.
Any info is appreciated, but I'm looking for at least the following (and I'll start with mine):
name of airline: Virgin America
call out time: 12 hrs
On call time: "on call" for 24 hours. Then, once called, our 12 hour "rest" starts. Additionally, we must be available for a 2 hour window the day before our reserve period starts for an assignment on our 1st day.
Can you bypass a trip?: no. You can submit your preferences on what you'd like to be assigned from the open time pool, which means very little.
Are assignments awarded on seniority?: no. they "level" our reserves monthly credit by assigning trips to the pilot with the lowest credit. LCR's get called before short call reserves despite that, but the "leveling" is still in place amongst LCR's.. (Basically eliminating the option of those who want to fly, fly, and those who don't, don't)
Can you be transitioned to short call?: yes

14hrs
LCR typically starts @ 0001 and ends 2359. If you came in late the night before then the start time is modified, but you still finish @ 2359
LCR is assigned based on number of days available and most credit hours for the month to date
No bypassing
You can be converted to short call, but with a 14hr rest before starting the SCR shift.
LCRs typically get called last and SCRs get used first.

name of airline: US Airways
call out time: 9 hrs
On call time: "on call" for 24 hours. Then, once called, our 9 hour "rest" starts. Additionally, if we don't answer the day before a reserve day we can be called at midnight and given less than a 9 hour call out. (ex 6am report)
Can you bypass a trip?: sometimes, if you don't answer the day before they may go to the next guy but only if there is someone else in the bucket.

Gives you 12 hours a day to work on your resume and contacts. Branson's stated goal of using you to kill United or Delta does not appear to be happening. I think both airlines plan on being around. That makes losing money at Virgin kind of a waste. Just sayin'

Thanks for the replies.
Thanks for trying to turn this into something else. There are a couple other VA threads for your rhetoric, think you can keep it there?
