If you had 1000 hrs and an all of your ratings...would you join Cathay Pacific as a second officer to gain experience or would you get another 200-500 hours so you could apply for Comair or Chautaqua or ASA?

I would join Cathay and stay there. They are a great company.

You'll get better experience and skills flying in the front seat. Sitting sideways on long haul flights takes a long time to get anything meaningful out of it. If you want to fly for Cathay you're better off going in as an FO.
