JetBlue 5 Feb interview group
#13
For you guys that have received your stuff back from the FAA on phase II doesn't mean that your "background" check is complete and now you're simply waiting on a class date. There's more to in than that, example is the NDR report, this request takes two weeks on average and there is no way for them to rush it as it's out of there control. Also what the FAA gives them is not the same as what your current and or previous employer gives them as far as training records go. They have up to 30 days to respond with your training records. This is where most people get held back , certain regionals more than others are known for being super slow and waiting till the 30th day to send the background check company the requested documents. And in 2 cases I know of this week, they weren't complete and had to be redone.
Of course jetblue could offer you a class date prior to this being done, it's just not very common , all depends on demand and how badly the need people in class at that time period.

Incorrect, it IS common for guys to be in class before passing phase II. In fact, lots of guys don't get the email until mid to late training. Some get it after training and into their IOE.
Once you're in phase II your good to go, unless there are some skeletons in your closet.
So, to all still waiting, don't worry so much... and welcome aboard.

Show up at least an hour before your scheduled interview time.
1st floor. Meet and greet. Hand over log books. **** test and finger print.
Takin to 2nd floor.
Lobby room - Another meet and greet and casual talk with JB employees.
Likely to have some chief pilots there.
Two interviewers show up to take you to interview room.
One is likely to be part of HR - One is a pilot.
They will tell you exactly how the interview process goes and what is expected.
They will tell you about themselves in summary. Then ask you to talk about
you. Skim over your resume' but don't repeat it verbatim. Talk about yourself a little.
Then the interview questions will start. About 30-40 minutes. No tech questions.
At end they ask you if you have a few questions for them. (see my notes)
Then they will take you back to Lobby room. Someone will then come get you for the exit interview. They will ask you how it went, when can you start, is there
anything in the background check (DUI, Speeding, Faa violation, Arrest) that they may find that might stop the phase 2 hiring process for you.
If so you will go sit with another HR person to explain it.
Then you will say goodbye, pickup your log books and hop on the JB shuttle back to JFK and wait.
------
They want this!
Situation / Action / Result
"One time I had an experience at xzy and ....then we did this... and this was the result"
Beginning / Middle / End !!!
DO NOT WANDER DO NOT GENERALIZE. BE SPECIFIC
SMILE ! Be relaxed.

I won't quote your whole post TPApilot, but thank you for the information!
With lots of time on my hands, I have the luxury to read up on all the prospective airlines, study their history and review their potential.
Your gouge and others will allow me to tailor my thought process and interview prep, IF I ever get called for an interview.
Thanks!!
BTW- how is commuting out of Tampa? Tough? I have my last move from the military left, Tampa is on my short list.

Agreed. Thank you very much! That obviously took some time and effort to write and I appreciate it.
One question I had was regarding things they look for in Phase 2. You mentioned speeding tickets, but I don't recall any questions regarding speeding tickets on the app. The only drivers record paperwork is the NDR which looks for suspensions or revocations of a drivers license.
I don't have any speeding tickets on my record since college almost twenty years ago, but just curious regardless. Do they call each state you have lived in over the last ten years looking for driving infractions?

I may have explained this wrong , what I was attempting to explain was just cause you got your copy of FAA records in your mailbox doesn't mean your background check is complete , they have more things to look for then just your pria . NDR, criminal background , and the slowest your prev airlines training records copies, I was just trying to explain that there is more to the phase II process. Someone made a comment a few pages back saying they got their FAA records in the mail and are now just waiting on a class date... Was just trying to give him a bit more perspective.
And yes , I have friends who stared training before their phase II was complete , but that wasn't so much my point.
God luck to all in this process , the waiting sucks , but still a good wait .... If that makes sense .

I don't know about other people, but just because I said that I had received a copy of the FAA records does not mean that I thought the process was complete, just to say that ALL I have received so far is the FAA response. This was mostly just to gauge whether we are all pretty much on the same page. Been through this too many times to think otherwise.

I was never notified of passing phase II I just went to training. A couple of others in my class were in the same situation. If you have nothing to hide you don't have much to worry about with phase II.
