US Airways Scope

What does US Airways scope allow? I always knew it wasn't good but I thought 86 seats was the limit.

According to the below "Express" fact sheet, Mesa has gotten some more CRJ-900s and they're configured with 90 (!?!?) seats?

The upper limit of current US scope is 86 seats. Upon merger closure, that number goes to 76 per the MOU, grandfathering in those aircraft (Mesa CRJ9s and Republic E175s) currently operating with more than 76.

Not sure about the data on the fact sheet, but none of the Mesa aircraft thus far have operated with more than 86 seats, and that was all-coach. Once first class was added to the "large" RJs, Mesa has seated 79 and Republic 80 in the dual-class configuration on the affected airplanes.

Delta Connection CRJ900s are 76 seats with first class.

A Mesa sim instructor told me last week that Mesa CRJ 900s will be configured with 79 seats—two coach seats and one additional first class seat over DCI.

The second MOU reduced the total number of potential newAA physically outsourced seats from ~49,300 to ~46,300. Currently the total limit of physically outsourced seats at AA & USAir maxes out at ~29,500. These numbers assume that all aircraft are maximum configurations of 65 and 76 seats at 34% and 40% of 800 narrow bodies.

Physically outsourced seats at newAA may expand up to 57% under current Merger Transition Agreement documents.

Returning AA furloughs may consider paying more attention to reducing Scope in JCBA than seniority disputes.
