Last month I saw a trip in O/T that started a day before my original trip. Called sked, since the report time was in a couple hours, and told them I'd do it for $$. They pay protected me for my original 11 leg, 20 hr 4 day and gave me 200% for the 5 leg, 25 hr credit 5 day pairing they created. Went from 80 ish hours credit to north of 130 for starting one day earlier and working only one more day. I think it was worth it. I've only been on the line for a few months and it appears that JA's (5 per year) are more voluntary than anything, all subject to change of course.

I understood there were "long standing" issues with Pilot compensation. However, "I was ignorant" to the fact that Jetblue Pilots could continue to fail to understand that compensating pilots below industry average was company policy. And, absent a CBA, compensation and benefits would never resemble those of the peer set.

I'm wondering why guys like you don't just fly for fun at a local flying club where compensation and benefits aren't an issue for discussion.


Why question anying as your peers do. Just accept the job on any terms............right?

As for flying in a flying club, last I checked I get the same comp and bennies package you do.

Yes it is a good deal for the company, and if you want more money, it is a good deal for pilots willing to work more.

Yes it does. And as an E190 FO, it could raise your W2 in a huge way. Takes some time but in the long run, is far more beneficial not only in pay, but in QOL.

I left a job to go to B6. I wasn't furloughed, downgraded, or on the street. It wasn't a case of any port in a storm for me and I wasnt "pleading" for anything.

I have the degree and TPIC required by the real Majors who now need Pilots.


Why are you so content with whatever terms they offer, are you unable to move on?

JetBlue isn't paying at the going rate despite claiming their "philosophy" is to offer Pilots "competitive" compensation.

Are you not inclined to ask why?

Scoop summed it up for DAL.

At NWA, there was a different system.

Anything over 80 paid %150. If you were awarded anything over 80 during bidding, the OT still kicked in.

Any time picked up in excess of 80 was %150 (for that part over 80). You could pick these trips up off the open board for any time of the month.

Designated "premium trips" (usually short notice) paid %150, even if you were under 80.

If you picked up a premium trip, and were over 80, the multipliers stacked, and it paid %225 (again, for that part over 80).

You could call and ask to be placed on "voluntary call out", and that would pay %150 for any trips you got.

Junior Manning was prohibited by the contract, except for the bottom %10 in each block holder category (no less than 5, no more than 10), and that paid %200.

Before anyone says "staffing"' the NWA contract had a fairly decent set of block hour caps.

I know Air Wisconsin is not a major.

But any added 'daily' open time trip pays 150% Above scheduled monthly credit.

In a case recently, I flew with a senior F/O who, with vacation trip touching had 3 weeks off and only had a 4-day scheduled at approx. 20 hours. Monthly credit was 82ish.
-Had a 7 day cruise with the family. Picked up a 3-day, 2-day and a couple day-trips. Each additional trip paid 150% Monthly pay was close to 145 hours. Flew approximately 63 hours.

Not for everyone, but some creative ways to make some money...
